
U-M Claims Two Silver Medals on Night One of Big Ten Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team sits in third place after opening the first day of the Big Ten Championships with two second-place finishes on Wednesday (Feb. 15) at Canham Natatorium.
The quartet of Casey Chung, Letitia Sim, Natalie Kan and Lindsay Flynn set the pace for the Wolverines with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in 1:35.96 and earning an NCAA 'A' cut time. The Wolverines were seeded sixth heading into the event, but the stellar start from Chung and the spring from Flynn moved U-M past Indiana for the second-place finish.
The team of Megan Glass, Katie Crom, Riley Francis and Christey Liang battled back from sixth place after the first two legs to touch the wall second in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The squad finished with a time of 7:00.78 and earn Michigan's second NCAA 'A' qualifying time of the night.
The Wolverines will return to the pool on Thursday (Feb. 16) at 10 a.m. in Canham Natatorim for day two of the Big Ten Championships. Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. and finals start at 5:30 p.m.
