
Thomson Runner-up, Wolverines Fourth at the Everett Buick GMC Classic

» With its third straight sub-par team tally, Michigan's 283 (-5) helped the Wolverines earn a fourth-place finish with an 853 (-11) total at the Everett Buick GMC Classic played at the Chenal Country Club' Founders Course.
» For the second time this fall, Hunter Thomson was the runner-up as he posted his fourth straight sub-par 54-hole total with a 207 (-9) tally. He has now posted all 12 of his fall events at par or better.
» Ben Hoagland recorded his third sub-par 54-hole total in four events with his 214 (-2) total, helping him tie for 20th. Jude Kim made his first start of the season as he closed with an even-par 216 to tie for 33rd.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- With his fourth straight sub-par 54-hole total (207, -9), junior Hunter Thomson posted his second runner-up finish in four fall events Tuesday (Oct. 17) as he guided the University of Michigan men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Everett Buick GMC Classic played on the Chenal Country Club's Founders Course.
In his 27th straight start, Thomson opened Little Rock's event with an even-par 72. Heading into the day's second round, he beat the darkness suspension with a clean sheet, six birdie 66 (-6) to position himself tied for third after 36 holes.
As he manufactured his way through 28 straight holes of par or better through the end of his first round to midway through the final round, he finished with six more birdies and three bogeys to post a 69 (-3) to tally a 207 (-9) and record his fourth career runner-up finish.
Stringing together three straight rounds of par or better for the fourth consecutive event, Thomson was able to maintain his perfect fall season as he has recorded 12 straight totals of par or better, including eight sub-par.
Right behind Thomson, redshirt-junior Ben Hoagland posted his third sub-par 54-hole total in four events after his 214 (-2) tally. Opening with a 70 (-2), he was able to cancel out his second-round 75 (+3) with his final-round 69 (-3) to tie for 20th. In his first start of the season, senior Jude Kim tallied an even-par 216 to tie for 33rd and round out U-M's top three.
With the play of U-M's trio, the Maize and Blue posted three straight sub-par team totals, extending its streak to six straight and making it 10 out of the 12 fall rounds. With just two strokes separating a runner-up finish to fourth, U-M's 853 (-11) total is the third sub-par 54-hole tally of the fall.
Overall, the Wolverine starting five produced 60 birdies and two eagles throughout the event. Thomson's 17 total birdies were tied for second in the 84-golfer field.
The Wolverines will close their fall season heading to Tulsa, Okla., next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 23-24) for Oral Roberts' home event, the Clerico. The two-day, 54-hole (36-18) event will be played at the Cedar Ridge Country Club.
