
Steere, O'Reilly Earn ACWPC All-America Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) named its 2022 Women's Division I All-America teams on Wednesday (June 1) with University of Michigan student-athletes Maddy Steere and Maddie O'Reilly receiving recognition. Steere was named to the third team, while O'Reilly received an honorable mention nod.
Michigan has had at least one player on the first, second or third team in each of the last seven seasons under head coach Dr. Marcelo Leonardi.
Steere earns her third All-America honor, the first coming in 2018 (third team) followed by a second-team honors in 2019; she was named an honorable mention in 2017. Steere was named the CWPA Most Valuable Player of the Year and was named to the conference's All-Tournament first team. During the season, Steere collected 51 goals, 35 assists, 43 steals, and 17 field blocks.
O'Reilly nabs her second All-America honor during her time at Michigan. In 2021, she was named to the ACWPA All-America second team. She led the CWPA and Michigan in goals (74), assists (67), points (141), goals per game (2.1), assists per game (1.9), and points per game (four). O'Reilly was voted the CWPA Tournament's Most Valuable Player and was named to the All-Conference first team.
