Wolverine Bites
• After going 19-5 during the regular season and capturing the Big Ten's automatic berth by winning the Big Ten Tournament, Michigan is headed to Texas for the first and second rounds. It is Michigan's 20th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.
• Joining Michigan at the Texas regional are the No. 4 seed Longhorns (20-4), Oregon (15-8) and Ball State (19-4). It is Michigan's first trip to the Lone Star State since the 2019-20 season, when U-M played its penultimate match of the season against the Longhorns (March 3, 2020) before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• U-M and Oregon are meeting for the third time in program history, with Michigan holding a 2-0 lead. The teams played a home-and-home series during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. The Ducks are the second Pac-12 opponent for the Wolverines this season, who knocked off then-No. 4 Cal, 4-3, on Feb. 8.
• Michigan is coming off a 3-0 weekend en route to capturing the Big Ten Tournament title, its fourth tourney crown since 2015. U-M knocked off Maryland 4-1 in the quarterfinals before grinding out a 4-3 win over Northwestern in the semifinals. The Wolverines avenged their only Big Ten loss of the season in the championship match, shutting out No. 10 Ohio State to capture the title. Jaedan Brown was named MVP of the tournament, with Julia Fliegner earning all-tourney honors as well.
• The Wolverines enter the NCAA Tournament on a nine-match winning streak following their run at the Big Ten Tournament. It is their longest winning streak of the season and the longest active streak in the Big Ten.
• Michigan is one of three Big Ten teams to make the NCAA Tournament, with Ohio State and Northwestern each earning at-large bids.
• Kari Miller earned her second straight NCAA Singles Championship berth, becoming the ninth Wolverine to earn multiple bids in a career. Miller enters the postseason with a 26-9 overall singles record to go with a 15-3 dual-match record. She is 14-3 at No. 1 and 1-0 at No. 2.
• The Wolverines have used 14 different doubles teams throughout dual-match play. U-M is 10-0 this season when winning the first point of the match and 9-5 without the doubles point. Andrea Cerdan leads the way for Michigan with 20 wins on the doubles court.
• Michigan is ranked No. 18 as a team in the latest ITA team rankings. U-M has a pair of ranked singles players in No. 19 Kari Miller and No. 78 Jaedan Brown.
• U-M now has five players in the 20-win club in Julia Fliegner (29), Jaedan Brown (29), Kari Miller (26) Nicole Hammond (22) and Andrea Cerdan (22). With limited seasons the last several years, it is the first 20-win season for each of them and the first 20-win season by any Wolverine since the 2018-19 campaign. All five are regulars in Michigan's singles lineup. Brown and Fliegner are on the verge of joining the 30-win club, with Kate Fahey and Brienne Minor being the most recent Wolverines to hit that total in 2019.
• Michigan head coach Ronni Bernstein, who is in her 15th season in Ann Arbor, became Michigan's all-time winningest coach earlier this season. Bernstein is up to 304 victories at Michigan, becoming the first coach in program history to win 300 matches at U-M.
