Wolverine Bites
• Michigan (5-3) headed to Florida for spring break this week, traveling down on Monday (Feb. 28) for a week of training without classes in session at the university. U-M also spent its spring break week at the USTA National Campus during the 2018 and 2019 dual-match seasons.
• The Michigan men's tennis team will join the Wolverines at the USTA National Campus later this week. The men will face off against UCF on Saturday (March 5) at 5 p.m. following the women's match.
• In the second computer rankings of the season by the ITA, Michigan comes in at No. 18.
• U-M has two matches remaining in its gauntlet of a non-conference schedule. The Wolverines have faced four top-12 opponents, going 2-2 in those matches with wins over No. 12 Georgia Tech and No. 4 Cal. Following this weekend's match against UCF, Michigan will host Columbia on March 13 to wrap up the non-conference.
• Through eight dual matches, Michigan has had three different players make an appearance at the top of the lineup in Kari Miller (4-1), Andrea Cerdan (1-0) and Nicole Hammond (1-0). It is the first time in Ronni Bernstein's 15-year tenure that three different Wolverines have played at No. 1.
• The Wolverines have been strong in the middle of the singles lineup, going a combined 13-2 at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. Jaedan Brown, Andrea Cerdan, Nicole Hammond, Julia Fliegner and Gala Mesochoritou have all seen time at those spots.
• Jaedan Brown is riding a three-match singles winning streak after knocking off No. 12-ranked Lisa Zaar of No. 8 Pepperdine in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Brown leads the Wolverines with seven dual-match victories on the season, going 7-1 at the Nos. 2-4 positions.
• Julia Fliegner won the race to 20 wins, becoming the first Wolverine to hit the mark after getting a straight-set win at No. 5 against Princeton (Feb. 20). She is one of six Wolverines to have double-figure singles wins.
• The Wolverines have a pair of ranked singles players in No. 11 Kari Miller and No. 81 Andrea Cerdan.
• UCF (5-5) will face Eastern Michigan on Thursday (March 3) prior to hosting Michigan. The Knights most recently picked up a 4-0 win over No. 17 Baylor (Feb. 27) to snap a three-match losing streak. UCF features a trio of ranked singles players in Evgeniya Levashova, Valeriya Zeleva and Marie Mattel. Michigan is 3-2 all-time against UCF.
• Michigan head coach Ronni Bernstein, who is in her 15th season in Ann Arbor, became Michigan's all-time winningest coach earlier this season. Bernstein is up to 290 victories at Michigan following a 7-0 win over Princeton (Feb. 20). In addition, Bernstein can become the first coach to win 300 matches at Michigan with 10 more wins this season.
• The Wolverines are back at the Varsity Tennis Center next, hosting Indiana (March 12) and Columbia (March 13). Both matches are slated for noon starts.
