Hunter Dickinson (March 14)
NABC All-District 7 (first team), USBWA All-District 5 -- For the third straight season, Hunter Dickinson was honored with All-District honors from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). After two years of second team honors, Dickinson was named to the NABC All-District 7 first team honors and was joined by fellow Big Ten players -- Zach Edey (Purdue), Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana), Kris Murray (Iowa) and Jalen Pickett (Penn State). Joining Dickinson on the USBWA All-District 5 team were Edey, Jackson-Davis, Souley Boum (Xavier), Boo Buie (Northwestern), Antoine Davis (Detroit Mercy), Jalen Hood-Schifino (Indiana), Tyler Kolek (Marquette), Terrence Shannon Jr. (Illinois), and Tyson Walker (Michigan State). » NABC Release | USBWA Release
Hunter Dickinson (Feb. 10)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award -- Hunter Dickinson was selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2023 Basketball Hall of Fame's Kareem Abdul-Jatbbar Award for the nation's top center. Along with Dickinson, there are two other finalists from the Big Ten, Purdue's Zach Edey and Rutgers' Cliff Omoruyi. The list also features Arizona's Oumar Ballo, UConn's Adama Sanogo, Creighton's Ryan Kalkbrenner, Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe, North Carolina's Armando Bacot, St. John's Joel Soriano and Xavier's Jack Nunge. In March, five finalists will be presented to Abdul-Jabbar and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The Selection Committee for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award is composed of top men's college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.
Hunter Dickinson (Feb. 9)
Naismith Player of the Year Midseason Team -- Hunter Dickinson was named to the 2023 Naismith Player of the Year Midseason Team. For a third straight season, Dickinson leads the Wolverines in scoring (18 ppg) and rebounding (8.5) -- one of four Wolverines to accomplish this for multiple seasons. With 21 double-figure scoring games, he leads U-M with eight games of 20-plus points and two of 30-plus. With a team-best 10 double-digit rebounding games, Dickinson has posted seven double-doubles boosting his career total to 25, which is tied for 11th all-time (C.J. Kupec).
Hunter Dickinson (Jan. 3)
Big Ten Player of the Week -- Hunter Dickinson earned his Big Ten Player of the Week honor of the season after another stellar game against his hometown team (Maryland). He scored 32 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Wolverines rang in the New Year with an 81-46 win over the Terrapins. His 32-points effort gave him a new season high, marked the second 30-plus point game of the season and third of his career. His third double-double of the season, Dickinson now has 20 in his U-M career and broke a tie with head coach Juwan Howard (19) for 18th all-time. Dickinson also tied a season best with 13 field goals (13-for-16). He opened the week with 13 points, six rebounds and shot a season-best 7-for-10 on free throws against Central Michigan. » Big Ten Release
Dug McDaniel (Dec. 12)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- After Michigan lost graduate transfer Jaelin Llewellyn to a season-ending injury in London vs. Kentucky, the Wolverines traveled back to the states and then to Minneapolis for the Big Ten opener with freshman Dug McDaniel making his first career start. In a near perfect game, McDaniel scored a career-best 15 points, going 5-for-6 from the field and a career-best 3-for-3 from long range. Adding two rebounds, he posted a team- and game-best seven assists (his third game with 5-plus assists this season) and added a career-best three steals in career-best 27 minutes. Hunter Dickinson (Nov. 14)
Big Ten Player of the Week -- Hunter Dickinson was named the Big Ten's Player of the Week after he opened his junior season in grand fashion with his 18th career double-double (22 points, 12 rebounds) in the season-opening win over Purdue Fort Wayne. With those 22 points, he became the 57th Wolverine to reach 1,000 career points. He finished 9-for-11 from the floor with three blocks and a steal. Closing out his week, he posted the second 30-plus point game of his career with 31 vs. Eastern Michigan in downtown Detroit's Little Caesars Arena. Going a perfect 8-for-8 and 3-for-3 on free throws in the second half, Dickinson (13-for-17) helped the Wolverines rally for a win over its county rivals. He added seven rebounds against the Eagles and is just one rebound shy of becoming the 46th Wolverines with 500 in a career. For the opening week he averaged 26.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and shot 78.6 (22-for-28) from the field. He was also 9-for-10 on free throws with three blocks. Jett Howard (Nov. 14)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Jett Howard was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after he opened his collegiate career posting the first 20-plus point game by a freshman since 1999-2000 (Jamal Crawford, 21 vs. Oakland). Howard used five three-pointers to finish with 21 points against Purdue Fort Wayne. He finished 8-for-15 from the floor while adding a team-best five assists, a block and a steal. He followed with nine points, two more three-pointers, four assists, three rebounds and two blocks in the neutral site win over Eastern Michigan. He averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in his first career week. » Big Ten Basketball

Preseason NABC Player of the Year Watch List -- For the third straight season, junior Hunter Dickinson was named to the 20-player watch list for the National Association of Basketball Coaches Player of the Year. He is one of three Big Ten players to make the preseason list along with Zach Edey (Purdue) and Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana). The remaining 17 members include: Max Abmas (Oral Roberts), Armando Bacot (North Carolina), Colin Castleton (Florida), Kendric Davis (Memphis), RJ Davis (North Carolina), Adam Flagler (Baylor), Keyonte George (Baylor), Jaime Jaquez Jr. (UCLA), Caleb Love (North Carolina), Mike Miles Jr. (TCU), Marcus Sasser (Houston), Nick Smith Jr. (Arkansas), Adama Sanogo (UConn), Drew Timme (Gonzaga), Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky), Jalen Wilson (Kansas) and Isaiah Wong (Miami, Fla.). In 2013, U-M great Trey Burke received the NABC honor becoming the first Wolverine to do so. He is one of three Big Ten centers to make the preseason list along with Zach Edey (Purdue) and Cliff Omoruyi (Rutgers). Former Wolverine Colin Castleton (Florida) was also named to the list. The remaining 16 members include: Adama Sanogo (UConn), Adem Bona (UCLA), Armando Bacot (North Carolina), Braden Carlson (Utah), Charles Bediako (Alabama), Derek Lively II (Duke), Fardaws Aimaq (Texas Tech), Jack Nunge (Xavier), Jamarion Sharp (Western Kentucky), Kel'el Ware (Oregon), Moussa Cisse (Oklahoma State), Oumar Ballo (Arizona), Oscar Tchiebwe (Kentucky), Osun Osunniyi (Iowa State), P.J. Hall (Clemson) and Ryan Kalkbrenner (Creighton). Following fans voting, the watch list will be narrowed to 10 in late January and again in late February to just five.
