
Program-Record 19 Wolverines Receive ACWPC All-Academic Awards

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches recently announced its 2021 All-Academic Awards this week, with a program-record 19 University of Michigan student-athletes earning recognition.
The program honors student-athletes who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher and competed during the season. The individuals are awarded at three levels: excellent (3.20-3.40 GPA), superior (3.41-3.70) and outstanding (3.71-4.00).
Seniors Maddie O'Reilly, Emily Ritner and Kathy Rogers, junior Sophie Jackson, sophomore Alex Brown and freshmen Alison Lock, Kasey Umlauf and Kata Utassy all earned the top outstanding distinction, each posting a GPA above 3.71 for the year.
Nine Wolverines fell in the superior category between 3.41 and 3.70 GPA. The list included senior Sofie Pontre, junior Ava Morrant, sophomores Ella Abbott, Alex Brown, Jess Henningsen and Sophie Tovani, and freshmen Libby Alsemgeest, Lola Ciruli and Sammi Monroe.
Additionally, junior Erin Neustrom and sophomore Grace Harbaugh received excellent status with a GPA between 3.20 and 3.40.
Michigan also earned a team honor for having a team GPA above a 3.00, finishing the challenging 2020-21 academic year with a 3.43.
