ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan distance runner Alice Hill was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 5 team for women's track and field/cross country for the third consecutive season, the organization announced Thursday (July 15).
Hill, who also was selected as Michigan's female Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient earlier this spring, now becomes eligible for inclusion on the CoSIDA Academic All-America team for track and field/cross country. Each of the Academic All-District honorees are entered onto the ballot for first-, second- and third-team awards to be announced on Aug. 12.
She was named to the second team for the 2019-20 academic year. Michigan has had an Academic All-American in track and field/cross country in nine of the past 11 seasons.
An honors student from Ann Arbor with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and dual majors in neuroscience and ecology, evolution & biodiversity, Hill was an indoor All-American, an outdoor NCAA Championships qualifier and a three-time Big Ten Championships scorer during the 2021 indoor and outdoor campaigns.
As she has for the past three years, Hill ran the leadoff 1,200-meter leg on Michigan's All-American distance medley relay squad that finished fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. She also led off the Wolverines' silver-medal relay finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, and finished sixth in the mile final as an individual.
Outdoors, she was among the nation's fastest women in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event. Hill finished fourth at the Big Ten Championships, and went on to qualify for nationals in the event, placing 20th overall.
She also was a member of Michigan's 17th-place team at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
