LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Senior Ross Todd qualified for the NCAA Championships on Monday (March 8) as the University of Michigan divers continued competition at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at Lancaster Aquatic Center. The women were on three-meter springboard, while the men were on platform.
Men
Todd qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third time in his career, finishing ninth (677.60) on platform. Zone C had 10 spots allotted for platform. He held an 11-point lead going into the last round and needed more than a 39.05 to advance. Todd scored a 65.25 on his 5235D from the five-meter platform to surpass Lyle Jost (Ohio State) for ninth and secure his spot.
Todd will also be able to dive three-meter at the NCAA Championships after finishing eighth in that event yesterday.
Women
Two Wolverines scored top-10 finishes on three-meter: junior Allie Klein was seventh (579.05) and sophomore Lucy Hogan was eighth (565.20). Both divers narrowly missed out on NCAA qualification, however, as Zone C was allotted only six spots for three-meter.
Senior Nikki Canale, who qualified for NCAAs yesterday with her fourth-place finish on the one-meter board, finished 16th (524.75).
The NCAA Zone C Diving Championships will conclude tomorrow (Tuesday, March 9) at 10:30 inside Lancaster Aquatic Center. The men will be on one-meter and the women will be on platform.
