Wolverine Bites
• The No. 15-ranked Wolverines wrap up a three-match road swing Sunday (March 21), heading to East Lansing to face Michigan State (4-7, 4-6 B1G) in the first of two matches between the rivals this season. Michigan is 6-0 in true road matches this season.
• The Wolverines have found multiple ways to win this year, getting contributions up and down the lineup as well as on the doubles court. U-M is 8-0 when securing the doubles point this season, but the Wolverines also have won a pair of matches without winning the first point of the match (at Ohio State, at Rutgers). U-M's singles depth has shone throughout the season, with eight players seeing action during dual-match play. The Wolverines have gone a combined 26-5 at the bottom of the singles lineup (Nos. 4-6).
• Michigan made moves once again in this week's Oracle/ITA team rankings, moving up two spots to No. 13. The Wolverines were unranked in the top 25 two weeks ago, coming in at No. 26 before breaking in at No. 15 last week. U-M is one of three Big Ten teams featured in this week's top 25, with all three schools ranking in the top 13.
• Graduate student Chiara Lommer became the 10th Wolverine in program history to reach 100 career wins, getting a pair of straight-set wins at No. 2 last weekend. She is 100-44 during her time at Michigan, putting her in a tie for ninth place in career wins. The lefty is also 13th historically at Michigan with a .694 singles winning percentage.
• Including this weekend's match, Michigan has played seven of its first 11 conference matches away from the Varsity Tennis Center. After this weekend's lone match, U-M will play four of its final five matches at the VTC.
• Michigan is atop the Big Ten standings with a 10-0 record after recording wins at Rutgers and Maryland. U-M has now won 24 straight regular-season conference matches, with its last loss coming to Northwestern (4-3) April 8, 2018.
• During conference action, U-M has outscored its opponents, 54-13, in 10 matches. Michigan has a pair of shutouts, blanking Rutgers (7-0) and Illinois (4-0). The Wolverines are 46-11 in singles play against Big Ten teams so far this season, with Gala Mesochoritou, Chiara Lommer and Jaedan Brown each leading the way with eight wins apiece.
• U-M features a pair of ranked singles players in No. 71 Andrea Cerdan, who earned All-Big Ten honors last week, and No. 101 Alyvia Jones. The ITA has only released one set of singles and doubles rankings this season, coming in January.
• Michigan has won 19 straight matches against Michigan State, holding a 51-16 advantage in the series against the Spartans. MSU (4-7, 4-6 B1G) split its matches last weekend out east, knocking off Maryland before falling to Rutgers.
Last Time Out
The Wolverines ran their win streak to 10 matches with a pair of road victories over Rutgers (6-1) and Maryland (5-2).
