Wolverine Bites
• Friday's dual will mark the 113th meeting between in-state rivals Michigan and Michigan State, dating back to the Wolverines' inaugural 1921-22 season when MSU was the Michigan Agricultural College. The two programs split a pair of duals that season with the Spartans winning, 20-18, before U-M bounced back with an 18-15 decision. Michigan owns a 72-35-5 advantage in the all-time series with Michigan State and has claimed each of the last nine meetings.
• Graduate student Myles Amine made his season debut -- his first college competition in nearly two years -- with a pair of wins at 197 pounds last weekend. A three-time NCAA All-American at 174 pounds who took an Olympic redshirt last season, Amine earned back-to-back 8-5 decisions over Ohio State's Gavin Hoffman and Penn State's 13th-ranked Michael Beard.
• Amine is one of three Wolverines nearing the prestigious 100-win milestone. With his 2-0 start to this 2020-21 season, he improved to 95-20 over his Michigan career. Graduate student Stevan Micic currently carries a 93-14 career mark, while sixth-year senior Logan Massa is 89-20. The most recent Michigan wrestler to reach the milestone was Adam Coon, who finished his career with a stellar 116-15 record, in 2018-19.
• Junior heavyweight Mason Parris owns a 5-0 record on the season and has earned bonus points in all five of his matches, with two falls, a technical fall and two major decisions. He earned decisive wins over a pair of ranked opponents last weekend, rolling to a 20-5 technical fall against Ohio State's 13th-ranked Tate Orndorff and earning a 12-2 major decision against Penn State's seventh-ranked Seth Nevills.
• Parris leads the Wolverines with two pins through five matches this season. He has similarly led U-M in falls in each of the last two seasons and boasts 26 pins in his career, accounting for nearly 40 percent of his collegiate wins (65).
• Sophomore/freshman Cameron Amine earned the biggest win of his collegiate career to date with a 4-1 decision against Penn State's Joe Lee, accumulating 1:30 of riding-time advantage while tacking on a pair of near-fall points in the third period. Amine is 4-1 on the season.
