SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Sophomore Kari Miller of the University of Michigan women's tennis team dropped a pair of three-set matches at the ITA National Fall Championships to complete her fall season Friday (Nov. 5).
Miller was one of 32 singles players to compete in the event, as she earned a berth to the tournament after winning the singles title at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Oct. 6.
The Michigan sophomore dropped her first match to No. 69-ranked Tiphanie Fiquet of Ole Miss, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in the first round of action to send her to consolation play.
Miller grabbed the first set from No. 54-ranked and No. 4 seed Lisa Zaar of Pepperdine, 6-3. After dropping the second to send the match to a third, Miller was up a break serving at 2-1. Zaar was able to come through with the break of serve, igniting a five-game run to take the third and eliminate Miller from the tourney.
The remainder of the Michigan team will be back in action tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 6) at the ASU Thunderbird in Tempe, Ariz.
