WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The No. 6-ranked Michigan men's swimming and diving team picked up two solid wins on Friday afternoon (Nov. 5), taking down No. 14 Missouri 193-106 and Purdue 192-107 at Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
The meet started with the Wolverines winning the 200-yard medley relay with the quartet of Wyatt Davis, Will Chan, Gal Groumi and Cam Peel touching the wall in 1:24.75 for an NCAA 'B' cut.
From there, Michigan won seven more events with Patrick Callan finishing the day as a two-time winner. Callan claimed wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:35.04) and 500-yard freestyle (4:21.26), while fellow senior Jared Daigle won the 400-yard IM (3:48.25) and finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:46.56) with NCAA 'B' cut times.
Sophomore Jake Mitchell won the 1,000-yard freestyle, while Chan added a victory in the 200-yard butterfly (1:44.31). Freshman Gal Groumi touched the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly, winning with a NCAA 'B' time of 1:44.31. Senior captain AJ Bornstein also brought home a victory with a 1:57.00 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Wolverines have a quick turnaround before their next meet, welcoming Grand Valley State to Canham Natatorium on Saturday (Nov. 6) at 10:30 a.m. for the Ian Miskelley Memorial Meet.
