In the 31st minute, senior goalkeeper Hillary Beall made a pair of stellar saves, the first a point-blank stop taken by Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Sarah Griffith, and the latter by Ally Mussallam that was also kept out.
With four minutes to go in the first half, U-M doubled its lead with a goal from junior Hannah Blake. Senior captain Alia Martin played a ball out of the back to junior Lily Farkas on the left-wing. Farkas slid a ball into Blake who finished lower-left to make the score 2-0.
Leading by two goals at the half, U-M's Sammi Woods came out of the half with a chance right away that was pushed wide.
Michigan then tacked on two more goals within minutes of each other. Junior Dani Wolfe had a breakaway and was fouled inside the box for a penalty kick. She stepped to the spot and converted her second penalty of the season to give U-M a 3-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later, junior Emily Leyson and senior Raleigh Loughman connected with classmate Nicki Hernandez to run the score to 4-0.
Purdue (14-4-2) added a goal in the 84th minute to bring the match to the final resting place of 4-1.
The Wolverines outshot the Boilermakers 24-7 on the match, highlighted by a 14-2 sot advantage in the second half. Wolfe led Michigan with four shots, while Beall totaled five stops.
