ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (1-0) will raise its 2021 NCAA Sweet 16 banner to the rafters when the Wolverines host St. Francis Brooklyn (0-1) on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 13) at Crisler Center. The ceremony will begin at 1:35 p.m. and opening tip is set for 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on B1G+.
Wolverine Notes
• Michigan will hang its second banner in Crisler Center on Saturday (Nov. 13) before the game, commemorating its Sweet 16 run from last season. Wolverine alumna Hailey Brown will be back for the ceremony, with Akienreh Johnson expected back at a game later in December. The first 750 fans will receive a replica banner. The ceremony will begin at 1:35 p.m.
• Three Wolverines made their career debuts in Michigan's overtime win over IUPUI (Nov. 9) in Ari Wiggins, Laila Phelia and Jordan Hobbs. All three found the scoring column, with Phelia turning in four points, Hobbs three and Wiggins two on a steal-and-score.
• Head coach Kim Barnes Arico will see a familiar face in Linda Cimino, the head coach for St. Francis Brooklyn. Cimino played for KBA when the two were at Adelphi (1999-2001). The two have squared off as head coaches before when Cimino was the HC at Binghamton. Michigan knocked off the Bearcats, 90-65, in the season opener of the 2015-16 season (Nov. 14).
• Senior Naz Hillmon started her senior campaign off with a bang, recording a 30-point, 15-rebound double-double. It was the fifth 30-point game of her career and 35th double-double. She is two double-doubles away from moving into second place on Michigan's all-time list.
• Seniors Naz Hillmon and Leigha Brown were each named to the watch list for the Wooden Award and to the Wade Watch. » Awards and Honors
• St. Francis Brooklyn (0-1) dropped its opener Tuesday (Nov. 9) to Manhattan, 74-66, after falling in an early 12-5 hole after the first quarter. The Terriers have a pair of double-figure scorers in Isabella Posset (22.0 ppg) and Ally Lassen (14.0 ppg). This is the first meeting between the two teams.
