Jordan Glasgow, Louis Grodman (April 15)
National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society Member -- Graduate student linebacker Jordan Glasgow and senior defensive back Louis Grodman were two of 1,432 players to receive membership to the 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society. The society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average or better throughout their college careers. This year's honorees represent 364 different schools. Glasgow has earned an undergraduate degree from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and is near completing his graduate degree with a real estate development certificate from the Rackham Graduate School. He has been a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree in three seasons and appeared in 52 career games with 15 starts at linebacker. Glasgow totaled 140 tackles in his career, including 10.0 for loss, 7.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one blocked punt. He was also a semifinalist for the Dick Butkus Award and a candidate for the Burlsworth Trophy in 2019. Grodman is graduating this spring with a degree in movement science from the School of Kinesiology. He appeared in 20 games on special teams over the past two seasons, totaling six tackles and three Academic All-Big Ten honors. Grodman was also a three-time Scout Team Player of the Week. He received the Dr. Arthur D. Robinson Scholarship Award in 2019.
Don Brown (Nov. 26)
Broyles Award Semifinalist -- Lester Family Defensive Coordinator Don Brown has been selected as one of 15 semifinalists for the 2019 Broyles Award honoring the top assistant coach in college football. Brown has now been a semifinalist or better for this honor three times in this his fourth season at Michigan. He was also a finalist in 2016. Brown leads one of the nation's top defenses, and maybe its most aggressive. Michigan ranks top-25 nationally in 11 major categories with top-10 marks in scoring defense (10th), first downs allowed (10th), pass defense (fourth), and total defense (fourth). Brown has led a top-four unit in terms of total defense for all four of his seasons at Michigan, including the nation's top defense twice. In 2019 Big Ten play, Michigan is even better, ranking first, second, or third in eight areas, including a league-leading red zone that shuts opponents down on 66.7 percent of opportunities. The U-M defense has surrendered only one run of 20 yards or more in the team's last eight games, holding seven teams under 100 yards rushing. In 50 games under Brown, only one quarterback has hit 300 yards passing. Only three teams have passed for 200 yards or better this season, and they combined for two touchdowns and five interceptions and a 0-3 record against Michigan. » Broyles Award Release
Shea Patterson (Nov. 25)
Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, National Honor -- Quarterback Shea Patterson earned his second consecutive co-Big Ten Player of the Week accolade after his explosive game at Indiana on Saturday (Nov. 23), sharing the honor with Ohio State's J.K. Dobbins. Patterson is the first Wolverine to win consecutive shares of the conference award since Devin Gardner (Nov. 12/19, 2012). Patterson had his second monster passing week in a row, connecting on 20-of-32 passes for 366 yards with five touchdowns and one interception against the Hoosiers. He matched his career best in TD throws set at Mississippi and set a new Wolverine best. The 366 yards passing are 10th-most in a single game in U-M history. Patterson is now the only quarterback in program history with four or more touchdown passes in consecutive games and the only quarterback to throw for five touchdowns in regulation time. Jake Rudock threw six touchdown passes in double-overtime at Memorial Stadium against Indiana in 2015. Patterson threw three first-half scores, the third quarterback to do that in the Jim Harbaugh era, and is now 44-of-65 (75.3) for 750 yards with nine touchdown passes and one pick -- good for 11.53 yards per attempt with 24 completions of 15-plus yards (54.5 percent). Patterson was also named one of eight quarterbacks to be named a 'Star of the Week' by the Manning Award committee -- his second week in a row earning that recognition. Fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for the top performance of the weekend. Additionally, Patterson was chosen as the Maxwell Football Club Offensive Player of the Week. » Big Ten Release | Manning Award Fan Voting
Shea Patterson (Nov. 18)
Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, National Honors -- Quarterback Shea Patterson was recognized with his first career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week accolade after his standout effort in the win over Michigan State on Saturday (Nov. 16), sharing co-honors with Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor. Patterson set a record for most passing yards by a Michigan quarterback against the Spartans with 384, which was also a personal-best at U-M and the No. 5 single-game total in Michigan history. He connected on a (tied) career-high four touchdown passes to four different players and hit nine different pass-catchers in all, completing 24-of-33 pass attempts, which also ties his career-high for completions in a game. Patterson helped the offense set numerous Michigan team-bests since coach Mark Dantonio took over the Michigan State program: most points (44), total yards (467), yards per play (7.0), pass yards (384), first downs (25) and tied for the most passing touchdowns (4). Patterson is the first Wolverine to share the Big Ten's weekly honor for offense since Karan Higdon and Chris Evans split the award in 2017 (Nov. 6) after a win over Minnesota. Patterson was also selected as one of eight quarterbacks chosen to be a 'Star of the Week' by the Manning Award committee. Fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for the top performance of the weekend. In addition, Patterson was also chosen as the Rose Bowl Game Player of the Week from the Big Ten from a 15-person committee. » Big Ten Release | Manning Award Fan Voting

The award recognizes some of the top leaders in college football, each of whom has demonstrated a record of exceptional courage, integrity, and sportsmanship on and off the field. Hudson has been a leader for the U-M defense which ranks top-25 in 10 categories nationally. He has 77 tackles, just six short of his career-high with four games remaining, and has added 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and three pass breakups. Patterson has 17 touchdowns this season and directs an offense averaging 389 yards of offense per game. He has a long pass of 30 yards or better in eight of nine games and a long pass of 40 yards or better in five games. Giles Jackson (Nov. 4)
Co-Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week -- Freshman wide receiver/kick returner Giles Jackson collected his first career conference honor and the third by any Wolverine this season when the Big Ten announced him co-recipient of its Special Teams Player of the Week Award. The accolade comes for Jackson on the heels of an electric performance at Maryland (Nov. 2), which saw him return the opening kick 97 yards for a touchdown and finish the game with 121 total return yards. Jackson was the first Wolverine to run the opening kick back since Jehu Chesson against Northwestern in 2015 and the first to return any kick since Ambry Thomas against Notre Dame last fall. Jackson is second in the Big Ten (among those with multiple returns) with an average of 27.7 yards per return. » Big Ten Release

Hart had two punts over 50 yards with a 53-yard long and also forced a pair of fair catches. He only allowed two return yards in the game and now has a season average of 46.1 yards per attempt, less than a yard shy of the single-season record he set last season (47.0 yards per punt). Hart was also named Special Teams Player of the Game for U-M.
Jordan Glasgow (Nov. 4)
Butkus Award Semifinalist, Burlsworth Trophy Candidate -- Graduate student linebacker Jordan Glasgow was selected as one of 12 semifinalists for the 35th annual Butkus Trophy, presented to college football's top linebacker, the Butkus Foundation announced. Finalists will be named on Nov. 25 with the winner selected on or before Dec. 10. Glasgow is having a career season for Michigan's defense, which ranks top-25 in 11 categories, including No. 7 in total defense. He has 63 tackles, more than his 2016-18 seasons combined (12-11-28), including 4.5 tackles for loss including 4.0 sacks with one pass breakup and one fumble recovery. Glasgow has also recovered an onside kick for the Wolverines and blocked a punt at Illinois (Oct. 12) in his only career game held in his home state. Glasgow's former teammate Devin Bush was a two-time finalist for the award in 2017-18. Five Big Ten programs are represented on this year's list (U-M, Illinois, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin). Glasgow was also named as one of 83 candidates for the Burlsworth Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding college football player in America who began his career as a walk-on.
Shea Patterson (Oct. 8)
Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Finalist -- Shea Patterson has been named one of 20 finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. The award is presented annually to the best college quarterback and is the nation's oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award. Patterson was one of five finalists for the award last season. The senior signal-caller has led U-M to a 4-1 record and a No. 16 ranking in both polls in 2019. Patterson has nine total touchdowns this season (six passing), having thrown touchdown passes to four different players. Against Rutgers (Sept. 28), Patterson became the sixth quarterback in Michigan history to run for three touchdowns or more in a game and earned Offensive Player of the Week honors from his coaches as a result. Patterson was recognized by Pro Football Focus College as the Big Ten quarterback of the week after throwing for three scores against Middle Tennessee State (Aug. 31).
Aidan Hutchinson (Oct. 7)
Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week -- Sophomore defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson was honored as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after his standout performance in the win over Iowa on Saturday (Oct. 5). Hutchinson stuffed the stat sheet in Michigan's shutdown defensive effort, leading all defensive linemen with six tackles including 2.5 for loss with one 10-yard sack. Hutchinson has led all U-M defensive linemen in tackles in four of five games this year. Against Iowa, he also recorded a pass breakup and forced a fumble, his second of the year in both categories. Hutchinson helped Michigan's defense force Iowa into an uncharacteristic three-turnover day, which helped lead the Wolverines to victory. It's the first Big Ten accolade of Hutchinson's career. He's the first Wolverine to win the defensive honor since Chase Winovich won it twice last season. » Big Ten Release
Jordan Glasgow (Sept. 25)
William V. Campbell Trophy Semifinalist -- Graduate student linebacker Jordan Glasgow is one of 185 semifinalists for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy. Now in its 30th year, the award recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Oct. 30, and each will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2019 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class. One winner will be chosen on Dec. 10 in New York City at the 62nd annual NFF Awards Dinner and will have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000. A former walk-on who earned a scholarship, Glasgow has been an important piece of the U-M defense this fall. He has six or more tackles in every game and set a career high with 11 stops against Army (Sept. 7). In the opener against Middle Tennessee (Sept. 14), he had two sacks for the first multi-sack game of his career. Long valued for his special teams contributions, Glasgow recovered an onside kick at Wisconsin (Sept. 21).
Zach Charbonnet (Sept. 9)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman running back Zach Charbonnet was chosen as Big Ten Freshman of the Week after his first 100-yard rushing performance against Army on Saturday (Sept. 7). Charbonnet totaled 100 yards rushing on 33 carries and scored all three of Michigan's touchdowns in just his second career game. His stat line accomplished several things no Michigan freshman back had done in more than a decade. Before Charbonnet's performance, the last freshman with 100 yards on the ground was Brandon Minor (108 yards) against Ball State in 2006. The last freshman running back to go for 30 or more carries was Mike Hart in 2004. Hart was also the last U-M back to score three or more touchdowns in a single game before Charbonnet did so against Army. Charbonnet is Michigan's first rookie to win the conference's weekly honor since Jabrill Peppers in 2015. » Big Ten Release
