» Michigan heads to Coral Gables, Florida, to play in the Hurricane Invitational, March 2-3, at the Biltmore Golf Course.
» The Hurricane Invitational is the front end of U-M's spring break training trip, as the Wolverines will stay in Florida for training and close playing in Florida's Gator Invitational.

The University of Michigan women's golf team heads to Coral Gables, Florida, to start its spring break training trip. The trip will begin with competition as the Wolverines will play in Miami's Hurricane Invitational, Monday through Tuesday (March 2-3). The two-day, 54-hole event will feature a 12-team field playing at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Florida. Scoring for the Hurricane Invitational will be five players, count the low four scores. Selected teams will be allowed individuals, including the Wolverines. The Biltmore will be set up for a par 72 at 6,150 yards.
The Hurricane Invitational Field
There will be 12 teams competing in the Hurricane Invitational, including No. 9 Arizona, No. 30 Illinois, No. 62 Indiana, No. 53 Maryland, No. 26 Miami, No. 50 Michigan, No. 99 Middle Tennessee, No. 28 Oklahoma, No. 16 Oklahoma State, No. 76 Penn State, No. 54 TCU and No. 85 Texas State.

The Hurricane Invitational Lineup
Michigan will travel five starters for the Hurricane Invitational: junior Ashley Kim, freshman Hailey Borja, freshman Anika Dy, freshman Mikaela Schulz and sophomore Ashley Lau. Sophia Trombetta and Hannah Ghelfi will play as individuals.
History at the Hurricane Invitational
• After a two year break, Michigan makes its sixth appearance at the Hurricane Invitational.
• In their last appearance, the Wolverines finished as the runner-up in the 15-team field during the 2017 event.
• Former Wolverines Elodie Van Dievoet (72-72-69) and Emily White (70-72-71) posted the top U-M finish as they both tied for third with a 213 (-3) total.
• Van Dievoet's final round 69 (-3), as well as former Wolverine Megan Kim's final round 69 (-3) at the 2017 event, hold the mark for lowest individual round at Miami's home event.
• Alisa Snyder and Hannah Ghelfi each played in the 2017 event. Snyder tied for 48th (226), while Ghelfi played as an individual and tied for 73rd (235).

Wolverine Bites
• U-M coach Jan Dowling is not backing down from going head-to-head with the best programs in the nation. In five events this season, the competition has ranked as some of the best in the country. Currently, Michigan is ranked No. 44 by Golfweek and No. 50 by the Golfstat rankings.
• Windy City Collegiate Championships (10 of 15 teams in top 25)
• Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (13 of 18 teams in top 50)
• Landfall Tradition (13 of 18 teams in top 50 and all in the top 100)
• IJGA Collegiate Invitational (12 of 14 teams in top 50)
• Hurricane Invitational (5 of 12 teams in top 50 and all in top 100)
• Michigan is using the same lineup for the second straight event featured with three freshmen and a sophomore. Junior Ashley Kim will play in the No. 1 spot for a second week, while sophomore Ashley Lau makers her 18th straight start. Rounding out the starting five all three freshmen get the nod -- Hailey Borja (sixth start), Anika Dy (fourth start) and Mikaela Schulz (third start).
• Opening the spring season, Ashley Kim led U-M at Virginia's stellar field at the IJGA Collegiate Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico. After opening with a 70 (-2), she followed tying a season-low with a 69 (-3) to position herself in the top five. A closing 74 slipped her to finish tied for eighth with a season-low 213 (-3) tally. She posted her second and owns two of three sub-par 54-hole totals this season for U-M. She added her second top-10 individual finish as well and has two of the five for the Wolverines this season. Additionally, her two sub-par rounds help her continue to lead U-M with five total
• It has been quite the start for freshman Hailey Borja. In the fall, she posted seven of 12 rounds at par or better. She started the spring posting a career-low 70 (-2) in the final round of the IJGA Collegiate Invitational. Overall, she has two top-20 finishes, is averaging 220.40 per 54-hole event and leads U-M with a 73.47 per round.
• Borja's fourth-place tie at the Glass City Invitational was the best opening tournament finish for a U-M freshman since 1995. The previous best was by Sharon Park, who finished fifth in her collegiate debut at the Spartan Invitational (Sept. 16-17), exactly 24 years prior to Borja's performance.
• Like last season, Ashley Lau has quietly gone about her work on the golf course. She is averaging 75.13 per round as she has produced 12 of her 15 fall rounds at 76 or lower. She has averaged 225.40 per 54-hole event.
• In her first career start, freshman Anika Dy fired an opening career-low 70 (-2) at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Using that momentum, she led the Wolverines for the first time in her career as she tied for 27th with a 217 (+1) tally. She started the last three events for the Wolverines and is averaging 74.53 strokes per round.
• Freshman Mikaela Schulz was the Big Ten Golfer of the Week after she won the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational with a 212 (-4) tally in her collegiate debut. Playing as an individual, Schulz bogeyed her first career hole before rattling off seven birdies for a first-round 68 (-4), tying the 10th-lowest round in U-M history. She followed with back-to-back scores of 72 to claim the title over teammate Ashley Kim (214, -2). She is averaging 74.56 per round.
• Seven of the nine Wolverines this season have recorded a sub-par round tally. Schulz owns the team's season low with a 68 (-4) in her first collegiate round at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational. Overall, Ashley Kim leads with five, while Sophia Trombetta and Anika Dy each have three.
