
Wolverines Return Home to Host No. 11 Princeton

The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team (4-4) returns home to the Varsity Tennis Center to host No. 11-ranked Princeton (9-2) on Friday (Feb. 28) at 6 p.m. It will be Michigan's first home match since a 4-0 shutout of Florida on Feb. 4.
Wolverine Bites
• The No. 16-ranked Wolverines (4-4) return home for the first time since Feb. 4 to host No. 11 Princeton (9-2). Michigan is 3-0 at the Varsity Tennis Center this season, most recently recording a 4-0 shutout of Florida on Feb. 4.
• Michigan and Princeton have met just twice on the tennis court, with the last match coming during the 1980-81 season.
• Following this match, Michigan will hit the road for four straight before returning home to host Nebraska and Toledo as part of a doubleheader on March 20.
• The Wolverines are approaching the end of their non-conference schedule, with just three matches remaining before Big Ten action starts March 13 at Penn State. Michigan squared off against both Ohio State and Illinois at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, but those matches were considered non-conference affairs.
• No. 11 Princeton (9-2) is coming off a 4-1 loss to Wake Forest, just its second loss of the season. The Tigers made the ITA National Team Indoor Championship earlier this season after knocking off Washington and USC in Seattle. The Tigers checked in at No. 5 in last week's rankings before falling to No. 11 after the loss to Wake. Princeton has three ranked singles players in No. 17 Brianna Shvets, No. 57 Zoe Howard and No. 109 Daria Frayman, while Frayman teams up with Grace Joyce to form the No. 23-ranked doubles pair.
• U-M has quite the non-conference schedule, with the Wolverines already facing their seventh ranked opponent of the season in No. 11 Princeton. In this week's rankings, Michigan has already faced No. 1 North Carolina, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 Stanford, No. 13 Virginia and No. 25 Central Florida. Florida was ranked No. 24 when Michigan recorded a 4-0 shutout of the Gators. U-M will still face No. 4 Texas and No. 17 Pepperdine to close out the non-conference season next week.
• Senior Chiara Lommer has hit her stride since dual-match play has started, going 5-1 in Michigan's eight matches. She has won five straight matches after falling in Michigan's first dual match of the season against Ole Miss. The lefty has clinched two matches for the Maize and Blue this season, coming against UCF (Jan. 26) and Illinois (Feb. 9).
• U-M has a trio of Wolverines appearing in the latest ITA singles rankings in No. 24 Giulia Pairone, No. 85 Andrea Cerdan and No. 93 Alyvia Jones.
• Michigan will hit the road next week, heading to Texas for a match against the Longhorns on March 3 before facing Pepperdine in Malibu on March 7.
