The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team welcomes No. 2 Oklahoma for a top-three matchup on Saturday (Feb. 15) at 1 p.m. from Cliff Keen Arena. Despite being ranked No. 3 in both polls, U-M marked the second-highest score in the NCAA last week with a 413.400, while Oklahoma's high score on the season is 412.200.
Wolverine Bites
• Coming off a trio of event titles, Paul Juda was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Juda took home top honors against Illinois-Chicago and Northern Illinois with event wins on floor exercise (14.200), vault (14.450), and high bar (14.300). The honor was the first of his career.
• Michigan ranks in the top five nationally on four events, highlighted by the top spot on high bar (67.683). U-M is No. 2 on parallel bars (68.100) and pommel horse (66.950), as well as fifth on still rings (66.883). The Wolverines are No. 9 on floor exercise (67.300), but 2019 Big Ten event champion Jacob Moore has yet to compete on the exercise this season.
• U-M's top event is high bar, where the Wolverines are ranked No. 1 nationally. U-M is led by Juda (No. 2, 14.000) and junior Jonathan Liu (No. 17, 13.483) on the apparatus.
• On parallel bars, junior Cameron Bock ranks third (14.317) and owns the No. 2 score in the country on the event (15.050). Juda's season best of 14.650 is the No. 5 score in the land.
• The Wolverines hold an advantage over Oklahoma on three events: pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar. Conversely, OU holds an advantage on floor exercise, still rings and vault.
• The Sooners are the top floor exercise team in the land (72.333), with three gymnasts ranked in the top 10. Gage Dyer checks in at No. 1 with an average of 14.883 and owns a season-best 15.150. Vitaliy Guimaraes ranks No. 2 (14.817) but has the top mark in the country with a 15.200.
• Oklahoma leads the all-time series over Michigan, 17-5, with the Wolverines' last dual-meet victory in Ann Arbor coming in the 2007 season.
