Michigan Looks to Keep Rolling in Series Against Notre Dame

In the top five for the first time since 2018, the No. 4-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team returns to Yost Ice Arena to host Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 27-28). Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7 p.m., and will be streamed live on Big Ten Network Plus. The Wolverines jumped from a No. 6 ranking after sweeping Wisconsin on the road last week (Nov. 19-20) in Madison.

The Series
Michigan leads 81-61-5 in the all-time series against Notre Dame, including a 43-27-3 edge at Yost. U-M and Notre Dame split last year's series, with the Wolverines taking both games in South Bend before the Fighting Irish returned the favor in Ann Arbor on Senior Weekend.
Wolverine Bites
• Michigan is off to its first 4-0 start since the 2011-12 season and has outscored its opponents, 18-4.
• Freshman Thomas Bordeleau was named the Third Star of the Week by the Big Ten after scoring the game-winning goal in Michigan's overtime win over Wisconsin on Friday (Nov. 20). He also tallied three assists in a 5-2 Wolverine win on Friday (Nov. 19).
• B1G Goaltender of the Year Strauss Mann has a 0.98 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage.
• Michigan leads the nation in shots on goal, averaging 38.5 shots per game and has been lethal on the power play at a 37.5-percent clip (6-for-16).
• Eighteen different skaters have recorded at least one point, with freshmen Thomas Bordeleau and Kent Johnson leading the way with seven points apiece. Freshman Matty Beniers adds five points, while defensemen Cam York and Owen Power along with Brendan Brisson chip in four apiece.
Scouting the Fighting Irish
Notre Dame is 0-2 on the season, opening with a pair of losses at home to Wisconsin on Nov. 13-14. The Fighting Irish lost three of its top five scorers to graduation, as well as their three-year starter in goal, Cale Morris. Junior Alex Steeves is coming off a 28-point season and has three assists already this year. Senior Colin Theisen has scored all three of Notre Dame's goals this year, and defensemen Spencer Stastney and Matt Hellickson were both named preseason All-Big Ten. Senior Dylan St. Cyr made both starts in goal against Wisconsin and made 37 saves on 44 shots for a 3.82 goals-against average and a .841 save percentage.
