ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan ice hockey players Nick Pastujov and Shane Switzer recently signed professional contracts. Pastujov signed with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL), while Switzer inked a deal with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL.
Pastujov, a 2016 NHL Draft pick of the New York Islanders, attended the Islanders Development Camps in 2017 and 2018. His collegiate career was cut short in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He finished third on the team in scoring with 18 points (nine goals, nine assists). Six of his nine goals came on the power play, while he finished with a 55.8 win percentage at the dot. Pastujov finished his Michigan career playing in 136 games with 25 goals and 35 assists for 60 points. A product of the U.S. National Development Team program, Pastujov was a member of the U.S. U-18 World Junior team that won bronze and the 2015 USA U-17 team that won a silver medal. The AHL anticipated start date is Feb. 5, 2021.
Switzer finished out his collegiate eligibility at Michigan while earning a graduate degree in 2019-20. He played in two games on defense and had one assist against Lake Superior State in October. Switzer spent four years at Boston University from 2015-2019, sitting out his junior season. In 33 career games, Switzer collected three goals and three assists. Switzer and the Oilers are slated to begin the season on Dec. 11.
The pair joins four others from the Class of 2020 in signing professional contracts (Will Lockwood, Vancouver Canucks - NHL; Griffin Luce, Rapid City Rush - ECHL; Hayden Lavigne, Rapid City Rush - ECHL; and Jacob Hayhurst, Worcester Railers - ECHL).
