Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- For the third time this season, MacNeil was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after winning three individual events in a 165-135 win at No. 18 Ohio State last Saturday (Jan. 18) in Columbus. MacNeil showed her versatility, winning the 100-yard backstroke (51.09), 100-yard freestyle (48.10) and 100-yard butterfly (52.12), earning NCAA 'B' cuts with each swim. She also swam leadoff on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:37.38). » Big Ten Release
Maggie MacNeil, Kaitlynn Sims (Dec. 11)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Maggie MacNeil (London, Ontario, Canada) scored four individual NCAA 'A' cuts at the Minnesota Invite last week (Dec. 4-8). She won the 100-yard butterfly in 49.26, tying NCAA and U.S. Open records, while lowering her previously-held Big Ten and U-M records. She also took second in the 50-yard freestyle (21.60), and got additional 'A' cuts in the 100-yard freestyle (47.16) and 100-yard backstroke (50.81) -- both coming on leadoff legs of relays. Among NCAA swimmers, MacNeil ranks first in the 100-yard butterfly, third in the 100-yard backstroke, fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Kaitlynn Sims (Montgomery, Texas) finaled in three events at the Minnesota Invite (Dec. 4-8). She surpassed the NCAA 'A' cut in the 1,650-yard freestyle, finishing second (15:51.06), while taking third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:38.73) and seventh in the 400-yard IM (4:16.55). Sims currently ranks third in the NCAA in the 1,650-yard freestyle. » Big Ten Release
Maggie MacNeil, Allie Klein, Kaitlynn Sims (Sept. 25)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Maggie MacNeil (London, Ontario, Canada) raced for the first time since she won three medals for Canada at the FINA World Championships. MacNeil won the 100-yard freestyle (49.54) and 100-yard backstroke (53.50), and also contributed legs on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:40.80) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:24.36) as the Wolverines defeated Miami (Ohio) and Navy on Sept. 20 in their first meet of the season. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Diver of the Week -- Allie Klein (Melbourne, Australia) began the season on a high note with a win on three-meter (331.65) and a second-place finish on one-meter (280.90). Both scores met the NCAA Zone Diving qualifying standard. » Big Ten Release
