• Michigan has a 91-27 record in homecoming games (92-28-2 including exhibitions). U-M has won eight straight homecoming games and 20 of its last 24.
• The Wolverines have claimed victories in 44 of their last 51 homecoming games dating back to 1968, the year prior to Bo Schembechler's arrival. Schembechler compiled a 21-0 homecoming record during his Michigan coaching career.
• Jim Harbaugh has a 4-0 record at homecoming as U-M head coach.
• Iowa will serve as U-M's homecoming opponent for the 10th time on Saturday, fourth most among all schools. The Wolverines have a 5-4 record against the Hawkeyes at homecoming. The last homecoming match-up between the two program took place in 2010, a 38-28 victory for Iowa at Michigan Stadium.
• U-M has had 19 different opponents serve as its homecoming foe, not including alumni exhibitions. Minnesota has been Michigan's most frequent homecoming opponent with 33 appearances, and 12 different Big Ten schools have served as the Wolverines' homecoming foe, including former Big Ten member Chicago.
In the Polls
• Michigan enters the matchup with Iowa ranked in the top 20 of the national polls following its shutout 52-0 win over Rutgers. U-M is No. 18 in the Amway Coaches Poll and No. 19 in the Associated Press ranking. Iowa is No. 14 in both polls.
• U-M has a 3-4-1 mark at home against Iowa when both teams enter the game ranked in the AP poll.
• The Wolverines have been ranked in the national polls for 18 straight games dating back to the start of the 2018 season.
• Michigan has faced one ranked opponent (Wisconsin) and has five top 25 teams on the remaining schedule: No. 4 Ohio State, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 12 Penn State, No. 14 Iowa and No. 25 Michigan State.
• U-M has been ranked for all but eight contests during coach Jim Harbaugh's tenure (56 games). The Wolverines were not ranked the first four games in 2015 and four games in 2017.
• Michigan finished last season ranked 14th in both national polls, the same position that it began the 2018 season.
• U-M posted a 3-3 record against ranked teams in 2018, defeating No. 15 Wisconsin, No. 24 Michigan State and No. 14 Penn State while falling to No. 11 Notre Dame, No. 10 Ohio State and No. 10 Florida. The last time that U-M beat three top 25 teams in the same season was 2005, and the last time it defeated three straight ranked opponents was 1997.
Game Notes Nuggets
• Only five U-M players who appeared in the last meeting between Michigan and Iowa (2016) are on the 2019 roster: Ben Bredeson, who started at left guard; Lavert Hill, who played as a backup cornerback; and then-special teamers Jordan Glasgow, Khaleke Hudson and Josh Metellus.
• Michigan produced a season-high 476 yards of total offense including a season-high 335 through the air, last weekend against Rutgers. Quarterback Shea Patterson's 276 passing yards are a season high, six yards shy of his Michigan best.
• Through four games, U-M is operating at a 79 percent clip in the red zone (15-of-19) and a 40 percent clip on third down (20-of-50). Opponents have converted fewer total third downs on eight more attempts.
• For the fourth straight game to start the year Michigan's top receiver had at least 80 yards receiving (Ronnie Bell, 83). Bell has paced the passing game each of the last three weeks with 81, 81, and 83 yards.
• Defensive lineman Kwity Paye had a big day against the Scarlet Knights with six tackles (four solo), 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. His 3.5 TFLs are not just a career high but also the most by any player on the U-M defense this year.
• In fact, Paye matched the best single-game high by any defensive lineman under head coach Jim Harbaugh. Maurice Hurst and Chase Winovich each had 3.5-TFL games during the 2017 season.

• Seven U-M pass-catchers had at least one reception 20 yards or longer, with a long of 48 yards on Nico Collins' touchdown 2:08 into the game.
• Collins has shown a knack for the big play, with at least one catch of 30 yards or longer in four of his last six games dating to last season. He has 10 such games over the past two seasons, with a long reception of 40 yards or more in seven contests.
• Patterson added three touchdowns on the ground. He is the sixth U-M quarterback in the last 70 years to reach that total and the third in the last decade (Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner, twice each).
• Running back Christian Turner (rushing) and wide receiver/kick returner Giles Jackson (receiving) scored their first career touchdowns on Saturday, becoming the 10th and 11th Wolverines to find the end zone through four games.
• The U-M defense pitched its first shutout of the season and its fifth head coach Jim Harbaugh. Four of those five shutouts have come against Big Ten opponents.
• A couple of young Wolverines had big birthday weekends. Tight end Luke Schoonmaker, whose birthday was Saturday, made his first career reception, a 29-yarder. Defensive back Daxton Hill, whose birthday was Sunday, registered a career-high four tackles, including three solos and his first career shared tackle for loss.
• One of Hill's solo stops came on special teams, and he has quickly become one of top special teams contributors with a pair of tackles on punt coverage. Louis Grodman (three total tackles) leads U-M special teamers in stops so far this year.
