ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan distance runner Alice Hill was voted to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 5 team for women's track and field/cross country, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Tuesday (May 28).
Hill -- eligible for the award for the first time this season as a sophomore -- now becomes eligible for inclusion on the Google Cloud Academic All-America team for track and field/cross country. Each of the Academic All-District honorees are entered onto the ballot for first-, second- and third-team awards to be announced on June 27.
Michigan has had an Academic All-American in track and field/cross country in eight of the past nine seasons.
An honors student from Ann Arbor with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and an undeclared major, Hill just completed a successful breakthrough collegiate season that saw her earn All-America honors and break a school record as a member of the distance medley relay team.
She ran the opening leg of the DMR team that posted the fastest time in Big Ten history at 10:54.47 and went on to finish in fifth place at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Individually, she was the bronze medalist in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, and scored twice at Big Ten Indoors with a sixth-place finish in the mile and a runner-up finish as part of the DMR.
She also enjoyed success during her first-ever varsity cross country season -- either in high school or college -- including a victory in the open race at the Pre-National Invitational.
