Kate Fahey (April 16)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Senior Kate Fahey was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the second straight week and fourth time this season. Fahey went 3-0 at the No. 1 singles spot this past week, helping Michigan earn its eighth Big Ten championship in the last 10 years. In Michigan's two Big Ten wins over the weekend to wrap up an 11-0 record, Fahey dropped just four games at the top spot in recording a pair of straight-set wins. The wins concluded a 9-0 conference season at No. 1 for Fahey, who finishes her career with a 36-2 singles record in Big Ten regular-season play. Fahey also knocked off No. 10-ranked Ida Jarlskog of Florida in Michigan's final non-conference match. The weekly honor is the eighth of Fahey's career.
Kate Fahey (April 9)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Senior Kate Fahey was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the third time this season after helping Michigan to a 2-0 week and stay atop the conference standings. Fahey ran her singles win streak to 12 with a pair of wins at the No. 1 spot, beating No. 37 Clarissa Hand of Northwestern (6-1, 6-0) on Saturday (April 6) and No. 47 Asuka Kawai of Illinois (6-4, 6-2) on Sunday (April 7). Fahey combined with Brienne Minor at the No. 1 doubles position for two wins as well, knocking off No. 40-ranked Hand and Lee Or (6-2) of Northwestern and grabbing a 6-1 win over Illinois. Giulia Pairone (April 2)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Junior Giulia Pairone was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after helping Michigan to a pair of wins. Pairone went 2-0 on both the doubles and singles courts against Penn State (March 29) and Ohio State (March 31). Against PSU, Pairone dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles while teaming up with freshman Anca Craciun for a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. In U-M's win over No. 19 Ohio State, Pairone clinched the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win at No. 2 over No. 61 Kolie Allen after rallying from a 5-2 deficit in the second set. Pairone and Craciun also clinched the doubles point for U-M behind a 6-4 win at No. 2. » Big Ten Release
Kate Fahey (March 12)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Senior Kate Fahey picked up another win over a ranked opponent at the top of the lineup. Fahey knocked off No. 18-ranked Maria Mateas in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5, in Michigan's match against No. 3 Duke. Fahey fought off a set point with Mateas up 5-4 in the second, winning the final three games to seal the win. This is the sixth weekly honor for Fahey in her career. » Big Ten Release
Kate Fahey (Feb. 5)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Senior Kate Fahey went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles last week. In Michigan's 6-1 win over Michigan State on Saturday (Feb. 2), she teamed with Giulia Pairone for a 6-3 win at the No. 1 doubles spot and took a 6-3, 6-4 win over Lauren Lemonds at the No. 1 singles spot. In helping U-M top No. 6 Texas on Sunday (Feb. 3), Fahey and Pairone once again won, 6-3, at the top doubles spot. Fahey put Michigan's deciding point on the board against the Longhorns, knocking off Bianca Turati, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot. It is the fifth weekly award of her career. » Big Ten Release
