ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's tennis head coach Adam Steinberg announced the signing of blue-chip recruit Jacob Bickersteth to a National Letter of Intent to join the Wolverines in 2020-21.
"Jacob will make an immediate impact on our program as a freshman," Steinberg said. "He has shown so much improvement in the last year and is now a blue-chip recruit and one of the best junior tennis players in the country. He grew up in Michigan and has been a Wolverine fan his whole life. We are very excited about him coming next fall."
A native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Bickersteth is ranked as the No. 18 senior by Tennis Recruiting. He won the 2019 Midwest Closed, taking six of his seven matches in straight sets. With a 9-4 record against fellow Blue Chips, Bickersteth is 13-4 against five-star recruits. He claimed the silver ball in doubles at the 2019 Indoor Nationals.
During his career, he was ranked No. 1 in the Midwest in the 14s, 16s and 18s and was No. 3 in the nation in boys 16s.
