DOHA, Qatar -- University of Michigan women's track and field Hall of Fame alumna Cindy Ofili (2013-16) represented Great Britain at the 2019 IAAF World Championships this past weekend, advancing to the semifinals in her signature 100-meter hurdles event.
Ofili, an NCAA champion and multiple school record-holder, finished 15th overall in the penultimate round of the event, clocking a strong 12.95 (+0.8m/s) performance.
The effort was good for sixth in her semifinal heat on Sunday (Oct. 6), but not fast enough to put her through to the eight-woman final.
It was an improvement on her showing in the first round on Saturday (Oct. 5), when she ran 12.97 (+0.3m/s) for the 19th-fastest time in the field.
Her results at the World Championships wrap up a comeback season for Ofili, who missed most of 2017 and all of 2018 with a ruptured Achilles tendon and its requisite recovery period.
The 2016 Olympic finalist will now set her eyes on preparing for a 2020 season in which she will chase the Tokyo Olympics qualifying standard of 12.85 in order to make a return appearance on track and field's most prestigious global stage.
