• Michigan holds a 24-18-1 advantage in the all-time series with Notre Dame.
• This will be the ninth night game played between the two schools and third at Michigan Stadium (U-M is 2-0).
• Kwity Paye is 30th nationally in tackles for loss (1.3 avg.) and 33rd in sacks (0.75 avg.).
• Zach Charbonnet needs 43 rushing yards for 500 on the year. He leads the team with seven rushing TDs.
• Ronnie Bell needs 57 receiving yards for 500 on the year. He has five games with 80-plus yards.
• The offense is 10th in the NCAA in fewest tackles for loss allowed (3.86 avg.).
Wolverines and Fighting Irish
• Michigan and Notre Dame will meet on the gridiron for the 44th time on Saturday (Oct. 26). The Wolverines hold a 24-18-1 advantage in the all-time series, posting a 14-7 record in Ann Arbor and a 9-11-1 mark in South Bend.
• This will be the 17th game played between the two schools at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines have compiled a 10-6 record against the Irish at the Big House, which includes a current four-game winning streak (2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013) and an 8-2 mark in the last 10 match-ups at the venue.
• Jim Harbaugh will face Notre Dame at Michigan Stadium for the first time as head coach. He had a 2-0 record against the Irish as a Michigan player (20-12 win at Michigan Stadium in 1985, 24-23 win at Notre Dame Stadium in 1986) and is 2-3 vs. Notre Dame as a college coach (2-2 at Stanford, 0-1 at Michigan).
• This will be the ninth time that the two rivals clash in prime time. Notre Dame holds a 6-2 advantage in night games, winning all six at Notre Dame Stadium while losing both contests at Michigan Stadium.
• This will be the sixth time the two school have met in the month of October (U-M has a 4-1 record).
• The Irish have a two-game winning streak in the series after winning home games played in 2014 and 2018.
• More than half of the games in the series have been decided by seven points or less (22 of 43). Notre Dame has a slight 11-10-1 advantage in games decided by seven points or less and has a 4-2-1 mark in games decided by three or fewer points.

In the Polls
• Michigan enters the matchup with Notre Dame ranked in the top 20 of the national polls. U-M is No. 19 in the Associated Press rankings and No. 20 in the Amway Coaches Poll following its 28-21 loss at No. 7 Penn State.
• This will be the second straight game against a top-10 ranked squad as the Irish are listed No. 7 in the coaches poll and No. 8 in the media poll.
• Michigan is 4-2 at home and 7-7-1 overall when playing a higher-ranked Notre Dame squad, and the Wolverines have a 9-14-1 record in games that both teams were ranked.
• Michigan is 1-2 against ranked opponents this season -- No. 13 Wisconsin, No. 14 Iowa and No. 7 Penn State -- and has two top-10 teams on the remaining schedule: No. 3 Ohio State and No. 8 Notre Dame.
• The Wolverines have been ranked in the national polls for 21 straight games dating back to the start of the 2018 season.
• U-M has been ranked for all but eight contests during coach Jim Harbaugh's tenure (59 games). The Wolverines were not ranked the first four games in 2015 and four games in 2017.
Game Notes Nuggets
• The lone Wolverine on the roster who is a native of the state of Indiana is Cameron McGrone (Indianapolis).
• Before Saturday's game Penn State's defense ranked first in the FBS in yards per carry (1.59), second in points allowed per game (8.2), and fourth in yards allowed per game (259.7). Michigan registered 3.4 yards per carry, scored 21 points, and totaled 417 yards.
• Michigan's offensive line was excellent last weekend, allowing just one sack against a team that averaged 4.5 per contest. Michigan is 10th in the NCAA in fewest tackles for loss allowed (3.86 avg.).
• Four of U-M's five possessions in the second half at Penn State moved the ball 40 yards or more, including scoring drives of 65 and 70 yards. Overall, the offense has constructed seven touchdown drives of 65 yards or longer the past two weekends.
• The Wolverines also held Penn State to its lowest yardage of 2019 and its lowest since the teams met last season in a 42-7 Michigan win. They forced six three-and-outs and held the Nittany Lions to 80 yards in the second half.
• The stout run defense has continued: in four games since losing to Wisconsin, Michigan has allowed 212 rushing yards on 131 rushes (1.61 yards per carry).
• U-M has accumulated 30.0 tackles for loss and 16.0 sacks in the last three weeks.
• Kwity Paye has made five straight appearances with at least a shared tackle for loss. He has 8.0 TFL in those five games. Paye is 30th nationally in tackles for loss (1.3 avg.) and 33rd in sacks (0.75 avg.).
• Quarterback Shea Patterson matched his season best with 276 yards passing last weekend. He is averaging a career-best 13.1 yards per completion this season and has at least one completion of 45 yards or longer in four of the last five games. Patterson has connected with at least five pass-catchers in every game this season.
• Running back Zach Charbonnet needs 43 rushing yards for 500 on the year. He leads the team with seven rushing TDs.
• With a catch of 30 yards at Penn State, Nico Collins has at least one catch of 30 yards or longer in six of his last eight games dating to last season. He has 12 total games with a catch of 30-plus yards over the past two years, with a long of 40 yards or more in eight contests.
• Wide receiver Ronnie Bell has 80 yards receiving or more in five games and has led U-M in receiving yards in four games this year. He also has at least one catch of 20 yards or longer in five games. Bell needs 57 receiving yards for 500 on the year.
• Michigan's leading receiver has had 80 yards or more in six of seven games this year. U-M had two such receivers this past weekend (Collins, 89 yards; Bell, 82 yards).
TV Announced for Maryland Game
Michigan's game at Maryland on Saturday, Nov. 2, in College Park, Maryland, will be televised by ABC. The game was previously announced as a noon start.
