
Michigan to Welcome No. 8 Ohio State for Home Opener

» U-M enters Saturday's meet ranked No. 4 in the country in the CGA Coaches Poll, No. 3 in the RoadToNationals rankings, and is ranked in the top-five on floor exercise, still rings, parallel bars, and high bar.
» Sophomore Cameron Bock, the CGA National Gymnast of the Week and two-time reigning Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, enters the meet ranked No. 3 in the NCAA in the all-around competition.
» Michigan holds a 20-10 advantage in the all-time series with Ohio State, and defeated OSU last season in Ann Arbor with a team score of 411.850.

The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team will open its 2019 home season with a Big Ten matchup versus rival No. 8 Ohio State on Saturday (Feb. 2) at 4 p.m. inside Cliff Keen Arena. The meet will be streamed live via BTN2Go, and will be re-aired on Big Ten Network on Sunday (Feb. 3) at 9 a.m. Dean Linke and John Roethlisberger will be on the call.
Wolverine Bites
• Sophomore Cameron Bock, the CGA National Gymnast of the Week and the two-time Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, won the all-around against the Gophers (Jan. 26) with the nation's top score (84.70) and also took event wins on still rings, parallel bars and high bar as U-M improved to 5-1 on the season. Bock compiled the nation's highest all-around score and took event wins on still rings (14.30), parallel bars (14.70), and high bar (13.85).
• Other event wins for the Maize & Blue against the Gophers came from sophomore Jacob Moore (floor exercise, 14.50) and senior Emyre Cole (vault, 14.85). In all, U-M hit 91 percent of its routines on the afternoon. As a team, U-M won floor exercise (71.00), pommel horse (66.00), still rings (68.95) and high bar (65.95).
• U-M boasts two of the top vaulters in the land, as seniors Anthony McCallum and Cole rank No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in the country on the table. McCallum the 2016 and 2017 NCAA vault champion, has an average of 14.75, while Cole sits third (14.65).
• The Wolverines rank in the top five on floor exercise (third, 70.10), still rings (fifth, 67.425), parallel bars (fourth, 67.925), and high bar (third, 66.275). Ohio State's top events are still rings (66.725) and vault (70.875), where it ranks sixth in both.
• The gymnast to watch for Ohio State is senior Alec Yoder, who, like Bock, is a member of the United States Senior National team. Yoder, a six-time All-American, ranks No. 1 in the nation on pommel horse (14.65), and No. 2 on parallel bars (14.85).
• Michigan holds a 20-10 advantage in the all-time series with Ohio State, and defeated OSU last season in Ann Arbor with a team score of 411.850. U-M sits tied atop the Big Ten standings with a 1-0 record in the conference with its win over Minnesota, while the meet is the first Big Ten meet of the season for the Buckeyes.
• Following this weekend, team competition will go on a three-week hiatus until U-M returns to dual-meet action at No. 1 Oklahoma on Saturday, Feb. 23, in Norman, Oklahoma. The USA Gymnastics-sponsored Winter Cup will take place Fri-Sun. (Feb. 15-17) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Four Wolverines in Cole, Bock, Moore, and freshman Kevin Penev will compete in the event.
