ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team has postponed its Eastern Michigan midweek slate, originally scheduled for Wednesday (April 4), due to inclement weather. The game has been moved to Tuesday (April 10) at 4 p.m. at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field.
The meeting between Washtenaw County foes will be the 68th in program history; the teams have faced each other in all but four seasons (1992, '97, 2013, '14) since 1980. However, this year will likely be the last meeting. EMU announced two weeks ago (March 20) its decision to eliminate softball, men's swimming and diving, women's tennis and wrestling for financial reasons.
U-M is 5-0 in home games this season after its weekend sweep against Purdue in its first Big Ten Conference home series of the season. The Wolverines have outscored their home opposition, 41-1.
Michigan will next travel to State College, Pennsylvania, for a three-game series against Penn State this weekend (Fri-Sun., April 6-8) at Beard Field. The series kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, continues with a 3 p.m. slate on Saturday and concludes at 1 p.m. Sunday. Friday and Sunday's games will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
