Meghan Beaubien (April 25)
Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year -- Freshman LHP Meghan Beaubien was named one of 25 finalists for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. Beaubien, who also was named a top-25 candidate for NFCA Freshman of the Year, leads the nation with a 27-2 record on the season and boasts a 0.74 earned-run average with 201 strikeouts and a slim .115 opposing average in her rookie campaign.
Meghan Beaubien (April 16)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman LHP Meghan Beaubien went 2-0, upping her season total to a nation's best 25, and posted a 0.58 ERA with 14 strikeouts in Big Ten wins against Michigan State and Rutgers. She allowed just two hits in each game. She earned a 1-0 shutout against MSU -- her eighth complete-game shutout this season. » Big Ten Release
Lou Allan (April 9)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman designated player Lou Allan batted .429 (3-for-7) with a double, two home runs and four RBI in Michigan's weekend sweep at Penn State. She posted a 1.429 slugging percentage and .556 on-base percentage over the three games. Allan registered her first collegiate home run in the series opener and followed with another in the second slate, knocking out a two-run homer with the game still scoreless in the seventh inning. » Big Ten Release
Tera Blanco (April 2)
Big Ten Player of the Week -- Senior RHP/first baseman Tera Blanco hit .600 over the Wolverines' last four games, and more notably, went 6-for-8 in the Purdue weekend series with three home runs and 10 RBI. She knocked out two homers as part of a 3-for-3 day in the second series slate -- the second multi-homer game of her career -- and registered a grand slam in the finale, posting four RBI in both games. » Big Ten Release
Meghan Beaubien (April 2)
Big Ten Pitcher of the Week/Co-Freshman of the Week -- Freshman LHP Meghan Beaubien earned all four wins over the Wolverines' four-game week, posting a 0.00 ERA with 25 strikeouts and just two hits allowed over 17.1 innings pitched. She went 12 innings without allowing a hit, contributing to a five-inning no-hitter against Detroit Mercy before tossing her second collegiate complete-game no-hitter with an eight-strikeout effort against Purdue -- just a HBP shy of a perfect game. She allowed just one hit in each of her next two appearances, notably winning in relief in the Purdue series finale, striking out six over 3.1 innings. » Big Ten Release
Sarah Schaefer (March 19)
Big Ten Pitcher of the Week/Co-Freshman of the Week -- Freshman RHP Sarah Schaefer posted a 2-0 record, earning the first wins of her collegiate career, behind 12 scoreless innings of work at the Miami University Invitational last weekend (March 17-18). She threw a five-inning perfect game against Robert Morris -- the eighth in program history and the first by a Wolverine pitcher since 2010 -- with six strikeouts and on just 49 pitches. Meghan Beaubien (March 12)
Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week -- Freshman LHP Meghan Beaubien posted a 3-0 record over the Wolverines' perfect FAU "Parent's Weekend" Tournament appearance last weekend (March 9-11), throwing a 0.93 ERA with 25 strikeouts and a .122 opposing average over 15 total innings pitched. She tossed five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against host FAU last Friday, before claiming both wins on Saturday, boasting a career-best 16 strikeouts against Ball State and three perfect innings to win in relief against Pittsburgh. » Big Ten Release
Faith Canfield (March 7)
NFCA National Player of the Week/ESPNW Softball Player of the Week -- Junior second baseman Faith Canfield claimed two of three National PLayer of the Week awards for her stellar hitting peformance at the Judi Garman Classic last week (March 1-3). Canfield, who led the Wolverines with a .579 batting average (11-for-19), recorded hits in 11 consecutive plate appearance over a four-game stretch with a pair of four-hit games. Faith Canfield (March 5)
Big Ten Player of the Week -- Junior second baseman Faith Canfield led the Wolverines with a .579 batting average (11-for-19) en route to five wins at the Judi Garman Classic last weekend (March 1-3). She boasted back-to-back games with four hits -- tying a career high -- including a four-hit, one-RBI effort against No. 8 Baylor. She also drove in all three runs in a 3-1 win against No. 18 Louisiana Lafayette. » Big Ten Release
Meghan Beaubien (Feb. 26)
Big Ten Pitcher of the Week/Freshman of the Week -- Freshman LHP Meghan Beaubien swept the conference's top pitcher and freshman accolades for the second straight week after posting a 3-1 record, 0.00 ERA, 16 strikeouts and just eight hits allowed through 19 innings at the Texas Invitational (Feb. 23-25). She posted a pair of three-hit shutouts against Virginia Tech and host Texas, recording a weekend-best seven strikeouts in the latter. Her loss and only (unearned) run allowed over the weekend was off an eighth-inning suicide squeeze under the international tiebreaker vs. Virginia Tech. Meghan Beaubien (Feb. 19)
Big Ten Pitcher of the Week/Freshman of the Week -- Freshman LHP Meghan Beaubien claimed both the Big Ten's Pitcher of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors after earning a pair of wins at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. She posted a 0.48 ERA with 12 strikeouts and just five hits allowed through 14.2 innings pitched. She threw a complete-game shutout against No. 8 Florida State, taking a perfect game into the seventh inning before settling for a seven-strikeout two-hitter. Meghan Beaubien (Feb. 12)
Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman LHP Meghan Beaubien garnered the Big Ten's co-Freshman of the Week award after posting a 2-1 record, 1.11 earned run average, 29 strikeouts and a .116 opposing batting average over 19 innings at the USF Wilson-Demarini Tournament. Beaubien tossed a six-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts against Georgia State in her first collegiate start and added nine strikeouts in a 2-0 loss to No. 2 Florida. Faith Canfield (Jan. 31)
USA Softball Top 50 Watch List -- Junior second baseman Faith Canfield was named one of 50 student-athletes on the watch list for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year -- an award won by Wolverine Sierra Romero in 2016. Canfield boasted a breakout season last year, earning NFCA All-America third team honors after hitting .398 with 56 runs scored, 72 hits and a .652 slugging percentage. » Full List
