
Wolverines to Close Regular Season at Michigan State

The No. 23-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team (13-9, 9-1 B1G) wraps up the regular season on Saturday (April 21), traveling to East Lansing to face Michigan State (15-7, 6-4 B1G). WOLVERINE BITES
• No. 23 Michigan stayed in the top 25 for the third consecutive week after a pair of shutout wins over Maryland (4-0) and Rutgers (7-0) last weekend. In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, Michigan has faced No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Texas, No. 12 Northwestern, No. 15 Illinois, No. 16 Kansas, No. 19 Auburn, No. 22 Virginia and No. 25 Baylor this season.
• Michigan is wrapping up the regular season this weekend, facing in-state rival Michigan State in East Lansing on Saturday (April 21). The match will be at 3:30 p.m.
• U-M is in search of its ninth straight conference season with at least 10 wins. Michigan enters the weekend with a 9-1 record during the Big Ten season. The Wolverines have outscored their opponents, 51-12, during the Big Ten season and racked up five shutouts.
• The Maize and Blue has picked it up in conference play on the singles court, compiling a 45-9 record through 10 matches. Sophomore Chiara Lommer leads the way in conference play, going 9-0 at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, while juniors Kate Fahey (8-2) and Brienne Minor (8-1) each have eight wins.
• Junior Kate Fahey is 24-7 on the season, moving her career record to 91-22 (.805). She is the 11th Wolverine in school history to reach 90 career wins, ranking 11th all-time in singles wins. Fahey is the only player in program history to feature a winning percentage of at least .800.
• Sophomore Chiara Lommer is the owner of Michigan's longest singles win streak, winning her last nine singles matches. Freshman Alyvia Jones is right behind her on a six-match tear, with junior Brienne Minor winning her last four singles matches.
• Michigan has six players with at least 10 singles wins on the season after freshman Alyvia Jones picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win on Sunday (April 15). Chiara Lommer (28), Kate Fahey (24), Mira Ruder-Hook (14), Bella Lorenzini (14) and Lera Patiuk (14) join Jones in the double-figure club.

• In the latest (April 17) singles rankings, Kate Fahey comes in at No. 31 and Chiara Lommer is at No. 101. The doubles pair of Brienne Minor and Mira Ruder-Hook is in the doubles rankings for the fifth straight week, earning a No. 80 ranking.
• Michigan State (15-7, 6-4 B1G) knocked off Rutgers (6-1) and Maryland (4-2) last weekend to stop a three-match skid. U-M is 48-16 all-time against MSU and has won the last 16 matches between the schools after earning a 4-0 win at the VTC last season.
NCAA RULES
Each team match will be a contest for the best of seven team points. Doubles action will begin immediately with no warmup, so fans are encouraged to arrive on time for matches. In addition, each doubles match will be one set to six, with a tiebreaker occurring at 6-all. The team that wins two-of-three matches will secure the doubles point. Following a five-minute intermission, singles action will begin with each match worth one point towards the team score. There will be no-ad scoring in both singles and doubles action. In addition, there is to be no noise made between first and second serves this season as part of new ITA sportsmanship guidelines.
WEATHER POLICY
Matches shall be played outdoors unless the projected weather forecast, for a minimum of two hours out of a four-hour time period from the start of the match, according to www.weather.com is: a high of less than 50 degrees or sustained winds (not including wind gusts) of more than 20 miles per hour.
