WOLVERINE BITES
• Michigan is making its ninth straight appearance at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship this weekend (Feb. 9-12). All of Michigan's trips to the national event have come in the past nine years since the ITA went to the Kick-Off format. U-M's first trip to the event came in 2010 after winning the ITA Kick-Off at Arkansas.
• The Wolverines are 13-11 all-time at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship and have won at least one match in each appearance. U-M went 2-1 in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016 and 2017. Michigan got wins over Vanderbilt and Texas A&M at last year's event.
• The Maize and Blue is guaranteed at least three matches this weekend and will play a fourth if the Wolverines make it to the championship match on Monday (Feb. 12).
• Joining No. 10 Michigan at the tournament are No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 Duke, No. 11 Texas, No. 12 Auburn, No. 13 UCLA, No. 15 Ole Miss, No. 19 South Carolina, No. 21 Wake Forest and host Wisconsin. There were no new team rankings this week.
• Michigan punched its ticket to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship with a pair of 4-1 wins over Gonzaga and Tulsa at the Ann Arbor ITA Kick-Off (Jan. 27-28).
• The Maize and Blue will square off against No. 7 Georgia Tech in the first round of the tournament, marking the first dual-match meeting for the two schools since a 4-1 Michigan win at the 2011 edition. The Wolverines and Yellow Jackets squared off at the Michigan Invitational in January, with Michigan taking four-of-five singles matches and GT winning both doubles matches. Georgia Tech has a pair of ranked singles players in No. 24 Paige Hourigan and No. 58 Ida Jarlskog, along with three ranked doubles teams.
• Junior Kate Fahey is one singles win away from becoming the 18th Wolverine in school history to record 80 singles victories. She is 12-5 on the season and on a six-match win streak.
• Junior Brienne Minor was back on the court for the Wolverines last Saturday (Feb. 3) for the first time since capturing the 2017 NCAA Singles Championship. Minor played with senior Mira Ruder-Hook at the No. 2 doubles spot.
• In this week's singles rankings, Kate Fahey comes in at No. 29 and sophomore Chiara Lommer is at No. 56. It is the first set of rankings since the fall season ended (Nov. 15). Lommer leads the Wolverines with 16 singles wins.
• Michigan is in search of the right doubles combinations, already using five different teams through four dual matches. The duo of Alex Najarian and Kate Fahey, which spent the fall ranked as the No. 1 doubles team in the country, has played all four matches at No. 1. U-M has used four different teams between the Nos. 2 and 3 positions. Michigan has won the doubles point twice this season (Kansas, Gonzaga).
• This weekend's action kicks off a six-week road swing for the Maize and Blue. U-M will not play at the Varsity Tennis Center again until hosting Purdue on March 25. The Wolverines will play 11 straight on the road.

In addition, there is to be no noise made between first and second serves this season as part of new ITA sportsmanship guidelines. Matches in progress when the team match is clinched will be abandoned at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
