ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (21-8, 10-6 B1G) earned the No. 6 seed for this week's Big Ten Tournament (March 1-4) at Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. U-M will kick off the tournament on Thursday (March 1), facing either Penn State or Illinois at approximately 9 p.m.
• Michigan got to 10 wins for just the seventh time in program history during its conference season and for the second straight year. Michigan is the only team in the Big Ten to have wins over the top three seeds Ohio State, Maryland and Nebraska, respectively.
• When Michigan faces off against either Penn State or Illinois, it will mark just the fourth different opponent for Michigan at the Big Ten Tournament in the Kim Barnes Arico era. U-M only has played Indiana (twice), Iowa (once) and Michigan State (four times) at the Big Ten Tournament over the last five seasons.
• Senior Katelynn Flaherty picked up her third straight All-Big Ten first-team honor, junior Hallie Thome grabbed her second straight All-Big Ten first-team recognition and senior Jillian Dunston earned All-Defensive team honors for the first time in her career. Flaherty and Thome are the only Wolverines with multiple first-team citations in their careers, with Flaherty the only three-time honoree in program history. Dunston joins Jenny Ryan (2012) as the only players to earn defensive honors.
• Katelynn Flaherty is closing in on some more history from behind the arc. She is up to 100 triples on the season after hitting three against Maryland (Feb. 22) -- her third straight season with at least 100 three-pointers. She is the only player in program history to accomplish the feat. She is 10 triples away from Kate Thompson's season record of 110, set in 2012-13. Flaherty, who has hit 392 triples in her career, is eight three-pointers shy of becoming the second Division-I women's basketball player with 400. Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell beat Flaherty to that mark earlier this season and is up to 478 career three-pointers.
• Junior Nicole Munger has proved to be a solid contributor in her first season as a full-time starter with averages of 9.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game -- both career highs. Munger is second on the team with 58 triples, hitting at a 42.6 percent clip (58-of-136) -- good for second in the Big Ten and 25th nationally. Munger has scored in double figures in 16 games this season and had the first 20-point game of her career when she reached the mark at Ohio State (Jan. 16). She is coming off a 15-point performance against Maryland (Feb. 22), scoring Michigan's final five points in the six-point win.
• Penn State (15-14, 6-10 B1G) lost its final two games of the season to receive the No. 11 seed for this week's tournament. PSU has a trio of double-figure scorers in Teniya Page (18.1 ppg), Amari Carter (14.4 ppg) and Jaida Travascio-Green (11.8 ppg) en route to a 69.2 points-per-game average on 39.4 percent shooting. Penn State allows 69.9 points per game on 42.3 percent shooting. Michigan came away with an 89-69 win over the Lady Lions earlier this season at Crisler Center. The teams have met three times in the Big Ten Tournament with Michigan leading Penn State, 2-1.
• The Fighting Illini (9-21, 0-16 B1G) went winless in conference games, receiving the No. 14 seed for this week. Illinois has a pair of players scoring in double figures, Alex Wittinger (14.8 ppg, 8.9 rpg) and Brandi Beasley (12.0 ppg). The Illini average 61.5 points per game on 37.6 percent shooting while allowing 71.5 points per game on 41.3 percent shooting. Michigan defeated Illinois, 86-42, earlier this season in Ann Arbor with just nine players dressed in the contest. The teams have met six times in the Big Ten Tournament, with Michigan holding a 4-2 lead.
