
Wolverines Babits, DeLoof Conclude Swims at OLY Swimming Michigan Open

» Sophomores Monica Babits and Jackie DeLoof closed the weekend with finals swims at the 2018 OLY Swimming Michigan Open, held Sunday (Feb. 11) at Oakland University in Rochester.
» DeLoof swam two events, finishing fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke, while Babits was second in the 200-yard butterfly.

ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Sophomores Monica Babits and Jackie DeLoof of the No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team concluded their weekend swims at the 2018 OLY Swimming Michigan Open on Sunday (Feb. 11), held at the Oakland University Aquatic Center.
DeLoof took part in two events, finishing fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.11) and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke (58.15), more than a second faster than preliminaries.
Babits swam the 200-yard butterfly, finishing second (2:03.22). She cut more than two-and-a-half seconds off her prelims time.
The Wolverines return to the pool for the Big Ten Championships, held Wednesday through Saturday (Feb. 14-17) in Columbus, Ohio. Michigan is the two-time defending champion. The meet begins on Wednesday with two relays beginning at 6:30 p.m.
