With the win, the Wolverines improved to 10-0 with the win over the Gamecocks, marking the fourth time in program history that Michigan has started the season 10-0, and the first since the 2012-13 season.
Michigan shot 51.9 percent (28-for-54) and 41.7 percent (10-for-24) from beyond the arc, while the Wolverines scored 21 second-chance points.
Five Wolverines reached double-digit scoring, which marked the first time that has happened since March 22, 2017, against Texas A&M. Poole led all scorers with a career-high 26 points, draining four three-pointers and six free throws. Freshman Ignas Brazdeikis scored 17, junior Jon Teske scored 15 and Isaiah Livers and Charles Matthews scored 12 each.
U-M won the battle on the boards, out-rebounding South Carolina, 24-17, which included 13 offensive rebounds. Teske led the team with nine rebounds, while Matthews and Brazdeikis each chipped in six rebounds and Poole grabbed five boards for the Maize and Blue.
Michigan led, 11-6, at the first media timeout thanks to six early points from Teske, but South Carolina stormed back and took a 19-18 lead with 10:19 remaining in the first half.
The Wolverines were able to recapture the lead in the closing minutes of the first half and held the 42-36 advantage at the break. Brazdeikis scored 13 points in the first half and shot 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
Michigan started the second half on a 14-9 run capped that was capped off by a two-hand slam from Poole.

A Maik Kotsar jumper cut the lead to nine, but a Simpson layup at the 14:08 mark extended the Michigan lead back to double digits, and from there the Wolverines never looked back.
With 5:23 left in the game, Livers hit a three from the left corner to give Michigan an 82-66 lead, Michigan's largest of the game.
The Maize and Blue remain one of 10 unbeaten teams in the country, while their 10 wins are the most of any NCAA Division I program.
