Glasgow Chosen for Second Consecutive Academic All-District Honor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Linebacker and steady special teams contributor Jordan Glasgow of the No. 4-ranked University of Michigan football team was voted to Academic All-District 5 honors by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced Thursday (Nov. 15).
This marks the second consecutive Academic All-District distinction for Glasgow, who began his career as a walk-on and was awarded a scholarship during fall camp before the start of the 2017 season. Glasgow has appeared in 36 games during his career with two starts, often serving as a special teams ace by contributing on kickoff, kick-return and punt-coverage units.
Glasgow plays viper linebacker in Michigan's No. 1-ranked defense that leads the NCAA in three categories and tops the Big Ten Conference in seven. He is part of a unit that has held eight of Michigan's 10 opponents to their lowest yardage of the season and allows just 11.7 points per game in conference play, the best mark among Power 5 programs. Opponents are allowed 1.6 red zone trips per contest, and opposing quarterbacks are completing just 47.3 percent of pass attempts against the Wolverines.
Glasgow has seized every opportunity he has earned. He has played more than 130 snaps on defense alone and is contributing at a more consistent level in 2018. He made the first two starts of his career (at viper) and made his first career sack in his first start against Nebraska. In his second career start at Northwestern, he set new career highs with six tackles and five solo stops. Pro Football Focus College praised that week-five performance against the Wildcats as one of the best in the conference by naming him to the PFF College Big Ten Defensive Team of the Week in the flex position.
On special teams, Glasgow is Michigan's leading tackler with 6.5 stops to his credit. He has been recognized as Michigan's Special Teams Player of the Week twice, after wins over Michigan State and Rutgers.
In the classroom, Glasgow is pursuing his business administration degree from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He is the younger brother of two other Wolverines who also found academic success at Michigan: current Detroit Lions center Graham Glasgow (2011-15) and Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Ryan Glasgow (2012-16).
Both older Glasgow brothers earned economics degrees from U-M, and though Graham was a three-year Academic All-Big Ten honoree and Ryan earned U-M Academic Athletic Achievement honors in his own right, neither earned the multiple Academic All-District accolades that Jordan can now claim.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
