» Friday's session will consist of eight swimming events of different distances and strokes, with both relays being a mix of men's and women's swimmers. It will not be scored. Saturday is a traditional 16-event schedule. Admission is free both days.

The No. 6-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team (2-0, 0-0 B1G) returns to Canham Natatorium this weekend for a two-day dual meet with Northwestern (0-0, 0-0 B1G). Action begins on Friday (Oct. 19) at 6 p.m. and concludes on Saturday (Oct. 20) at 10 a.m.

Notes
• Since 2007, Michigan is 92-6-1 in dual meets, going 57-3 against Big Ten opponents.
• The Wolverines are ranked No. 6 in the first CSCAA poll, released last Wednesday (Oct. 10). [ Poll ]
• Michigan won all 16 events in sweeping Miami and Oakland by matching 245-55 scores on Sept. 28 at Canham Natatorium. Sophomores Ricardo Vargas (500-yard freestyle, 1,000-yard freestyle) and Ross Todd (one-meter, three-meter) each won two events. [ Recap ]
• Ricardo Vargas leads the Big Ten in both the 500-yard freestyle and 1,000-yard freestyle, while Tommy Cope is tops in the 200-yard IM. Other names near the top of the rankings at this point in the season include Luiz Gustavo Borges (second in the 50-yard freestyle), Patrick Callan (second in the 200-yard freestyle), Kai Williams (third in the 200-yard freestyle, fourth in the 200-yard backstroke), Will Roberts (second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, third in the 500-yard freestyle, sixth in the 200-yard butterfly), Jon Burkett (third in the 100-yard butterfly) and Jacob Montague (fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke).
• Three freshmen won events in their debuts: Eric Storms (100-yard backstroke, 50.59), Patrick Callan (200-yard freestyle, 1:37.07) and Will Chan (100-yard freestyle, 45.76). They were among the 14 swimmers to make their Michigan debuts, joining Andrew Babyak, AJ Bornstein, David Cleason, Jared Daigle, Mason Hunter, Jeremie Luong, Ian Miskelley, Bora Unalmis, Nathan Stovern (redshirt freshman), Dylan Boyd (transfer) and Leo Zabudkin (transfer).
• All four divers earned NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores against Miami and Oakland. Three of them -- Ross Todd, Chris Canning and Collin DeShaw -- qualified on both one-meter and three-meter, while Jake Herremans got his on three-meter only. [ Diving Bests ]
Scouting Northwestern
This weekend marks the season debut for Northwestern, which is in its first year under new coach Jeremy Kipp. Tyler Lis is a swimmer to watch; he scored points in the 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard IM and 400-yard IM at last year's Big Ten Championships. The Wildcats finished ninth as a team and did not have any qualifiers for the NCAA Championships.
