
Kim, Spring Lead Second-Round Rally at Northern Intercollegiate

» After opening with a 295 first-round total, the University of Michigan men's golf team rallied in the second round with a 284 (-4) and is tied for sixth after 36 holes of the Northern Intercollegiate.
» Senior Ian Kim led U-M's second-round rally, playing the front side five-under and making eight total birdies to post a 67 (-5), while freshman Henry Spring used three birdies and an eagle to tally a 70 (-2).
» After a 340-plus drive off the 11th tee, Spring used a 6-iron from 216 to land in the rough just past the green. He then chipped in for U-M's first eagle of the day.
» Junior Nick Carlson is the top Wolverine at even par after rounds of 71 (-1) and 73. He collected eight birdies on the day and an eagle on 18. After striping his drive 325-plus yards, he used his 7-iron from 194 to stick it to four feet, which he converted for the eagle.
» Michigan will play the final round with host Northern Illinois and Iowa State tomorrow starting at 7:45 a.m. CDT off the first tee.
