VOLOS, Greece -- University of Michigan sophomore Alex Corbett will compete for Australia at the 12th FINA World Women's Junior Water Polo Championships, slated for Sept. 3-9.
Australia will compete in Group B along with China, South Africa and Greece. Australia will start against Greece on Sunday (Sept. 3) and then play China on Monday (Sept. 4) and South Africa on Tuesday (Sept. 5) to round out group play.
Corbett was named to the roster June 1 and has competed through a series of training camps, including one with the World University Games team in Sydney.
The junior team departed for Europe on Aug. 20, visiting Hungary for a warmup tournament, the OMV International U20 Tournament. Australia won all three games, topping the Hungary U18 team (13-5), Croatia (15-4) and the Hungary U20 team (9-8).
Corbett played in 25 games in her first year at Michigan, finishing the season with 14 goals and three assists. She came off the bench to help the Wolverines win the CWPA Championship for the second straight year and advance to the NCAA Championship.
