STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team came from behind after failing to pick up the doubles point for a 4-3 victory against Penn State on Friday (March 24) at the Penn State Tennis Center.
The Wolverines were unable to claim the doubles point for just the fourth time this season, however, Runhao Hua made quick work on court four in doubles play with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph.
Michigan's second point came at No. 3 singles by Alex Knight with a 6-3, 6-4 victory that brought the score to two apiece after Penn State secured a win on court five.
Carter Lin picked up his team-leading ninth singles victory in a row at No. 6 singles (6-4, 7-6), tying the match at three-all, leaving the deciding match on court one.
After taking the first set, 7-6, Jathan Malik dropped the second set, 3-6, but secured a win at No. 1 and clinched the team victory with a 6-4 triumph in the final set.
Michigan will be back in action hosting No. 3 Ohio State on Sunday (March 26) at the Varsity Tennis Center. Free pizza will be available for fans, while U-M will also be recognizing members of the 1982 Big Ten championship team. A free post-match youth clinic will also take place for kids eighth grade and under.
