THINGS TO KNOW
Michigan is in its 17th season as a varsity program (Team 17)
Leonardi is in his third season and owns a 55-24 (.696) record at U-M.
U-M is ranked No. 6 in the latest poll, moving up one spot this week. Michigan has been ranked in the top 10 in 22 consecutive polls.
All nine games this season have come against ranked teams, including five against teams in the top-10. U-M is 2-3 against top-10 teams this year.
The last time Michigan traveled to San Diego was for the 2015 Triton Invitational. The Wolverines lost the opening game to Long Beach State, 6-5, and came back to win the final three games of the tournament.
U-M is coming off a third place finish at the Stanford Invitational. The Wolverines defeated No. 8 Hawai'i in the third place game, 8-6. The only loss was to No. 4 Cal, 13-9.
Junior Caroline Anderson is 15 assists away from breaking the school record for career assists, seven from 150 in her career and needs 14 points to move in to seventh on Michigan's career points list.
Senior Allison Skaggs is seven drawn exclusions from moving in to the top five in school history.
If freshman Heidi Ritner tallies 22 save this weekend she would become the fastest Michigan player to 100 career saves.
All six starters have between 14 and 30 points on the season, giving Michigan a balanced attack.
The captains for 2017 are seniors Danielle Johnson, Heidi Moreland and Skaggs.
