The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team (5-0) returns to action this weekend at the UGA Fall Invite, running Friday through Sunday (Dec. 1-3) at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia. Preliminaries begin at 9:30 a.m. each day with finals to follow at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Joining Michigan and No. 5 Georgia for the three-day invitational are No. 6 California, No. 16 Virginia and divers-only squads from Harvard and UCLA.
Swimmers can compete in a maximum of four individual events. There will be three heats in finals with eight swimmers each, though only the championship (A) and consolation (B) finals score.

WOLVERINE BITES
• Michigan will compete at the UGA Fall Invite for the second consecutive year. Last year, the team finished fourth, amassing 40 NCAA times (7 A, 33 B), a pair of NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores and new school records from G Ryan (500-yard freestyle) and Vanessa Krause(200-yard butterfly). They were without Clara Smiddy, Samantha Yeo and Jamie Yeung, who did not swim due to their participation at the FINA World Swimming Championships.
• Senior G Ryan is expected to make their season debut. A two-time Big Ten individual champion and CSCAA All-American last season, Ryan has not yet swum in a meet this season.
• Even with half of the Big Ten already having swum in their respective midseason meets, junior Siobhán Haughey still holds Big Ten-best times in three events (100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke) and is second in another (200-yard IM). So far this season, Michigan swimmers and relay teams have achieved 31 NCAA times (3 A, 28 B). [ Top Times ]
• Divers Nikki Canale (1M, 3M) and Christy Cutshaw (3M, PL) each have recorded qualifying scores for the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in March. The duo will also represent Michigan at the USA Diving Winter National Championships, held Dec. 13-18 in Greensboro, North Carolina. [ Diving Scores ]
• The Wolverines were ranked No. 4 in the most recent TYR/CSCAA Division I Coaches Poll, released on Nov. 8. The next poll is released Dec. 6. [ Poll ]
• Head coach Mike Bottom announced the signings of three swimmers to National Letters of Intent on Nov. 14: Victoria Kwan (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada), Maggie MacNeil (London, Ontario, Canada) and Katie Minnich (Royal Oak, Michigan). [ Release ]
