ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 24-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (1-0) will be back in action on Sunday (Nov. 12), hosting Liberty (1-0) in the second round of the Preseason WNIT. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Crisler Center.
• Senior Katelynn Flaherty exploded for 29 points, including three fourth-quarter triples, in Michigan's season-opening win over George Mason on Friday (Nov. 10). Entering the season needing 58 points to become the all-time leading scorer in program history, she halved that number after just one game. The senior now needs just 29 more points to pass Diane Dietz (1978-82) as the program's all-time leading scorer. Flaherty is up to 2,048 points to 2,076 for Dietz. Flaherty is also just four triples away from becoming the seventh player in Big Ten history to reach 300 three-pointers in a career. She is already the career leader for the Maize and Blue in triples made.
• Michigan controlled the glass in its season-opening win, grabbing 54 rebounds to 26 for George Mason. U-M had a trio of rebounders in double figures, with junior Hallie Thome grabbing a game-high 12 en route to recording the seventh double-double of her career. Senior Jillian Dunston and freshman Hailey Brown each recorded 10 rebounds as U-M topped the 50-rebound mark for the first time since going for 63 last season against Ohio (Dec. 13, 2016).
• With 15 points against George Mason, junior Hallie Thome moved up to 21st on Michigan's all-time scoring list with 1,120 points. She is seven points away from moving into the top 20 all-time in scoring and 35 rebounds away from becoming the 24th Wolverine in school history with 500 rebounds.
• Michigan and Liberty will be meeting for the first time in program history on Sunday. Liberty advanced to the second round of the Preseason WNIT after dispatching of Old Dominion, 63-55, on Friday. The Flames raced out to a 19-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as Iva Ilic came off the bench to hit five three-pointers in the victory.
