Wolverines to Open Up 2017-18 Season in Northern New York

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team hits the road to Northern New York to kick off the 2017-18 season with matchups against St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
The Saint Lawrence Series
Michigan and St. Lawrence meet for the 15th time in program history since the series began in 1952, with the Wolverines holding a 12-2-1 record all-time against the Saints. U-M will travel to St. Lawrence for the first time since 1959 when the Wolverines lost, 6-5. Michigan has played six consecutive home games in the series with the Saints.
Michigan is currently riding an eight-game winning streak against St. Lawrence, with their last matchup on Oct. 13, 2011, a 10-3 win for U-M in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines have played St. Lawrence three times in the NCAA Tournament (1952, 1956, 1962) and are 3-0 in those games.
The Clarkson Series
Michigan and Clarkson meet for the fifth time in program history since the series began in 1958. The Wolverines are 3-1-0 all-time against the Golden Knights. U-M won its last head-to-head matchup with Clarkson in 2008, when the Wolverines came out victorious (2-0) in the NCAA East Regional in Albany, New York.
Prior to 2008, the last game between Michigan and Clarkson was a 5-4 loss for the Wolverines in 1962, an NCAA Frozen Four Semifinal matchup in Utica, New York.
Michigan is 2-0 all-time at Clarkson, with its two meetings on Nov. 28, 1958 (6-3) and Nov. 27, 1959 (8-0).
Up Ahead
The Maize and Blue will have the following weekend off before returning to Yost Ice Arena for their home opener against Vermont. U-M will face off with the Catamounts for a pair of games, with puck drop being scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21.
