MANHEIM, Pa. -- Junior/sophomore Stevan Micic of the University of Michigan wrestling team has been selected to participate in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's 52nd annual All-Star Classic. The event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, at Princeton's Jadwin Gym in Princeton, New Jersey.
The NWCA All-Star Classic pits the nation's top collegiate wrestlers against each other in challenge matches that are often seen as a preview of the NCAA Championships.
Micic, currently ranked No. 2 at 133 pounds, will square off against South Dakota State's top-ranked Seth Gross. Gross, a junior, took NCAA runner-up honors last season, narrowly falling to Iowa's Cody Clark, 4-3, in the championship match. Micic also fell to Clark, 6-4, in the quarterfinals before wrestling back to fourth place in his NCAA debut.
Micic posted a 29-7 record in his first season in the Wolverine lineup in 2016-17 and owns an impressive 48-10 career record. He is the 38th Michigan wrestler to earn a NWCA All-Star selection and the fifth over the last two seasons.
