ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Katie Fraumann has been named the Executive Associate Director of Athletics for Development at the University of Michigan. Fraumann, a Michigan graduate and former captain of the women's basketball team, returns to the athletic department where she previously served as Senior Director of Major Gifts from 2011-14. She will begin her tenure Sept. 19.
"I am delighted to welcome Katie back to the department in this pivotal role," said Warde Manuel, Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. "Her love for, and knowledge of, the Michigan community is matched by her ability to connect with others. Katie shares our values in fully supporting the student-athletes, coaches, department and the University as we strive for success academically, athletically, and in the personal growth of our student-athletes. I look forward to working with Katie, our donors and her staff to drive investment in the success of our student-athletes and programs."
"I am incredibly honored for this special opportunity to return home to U-M Athletics," said Fraumann. "As a former student-athlete, this place is one of my greatest passions in life. I look forward to working with Warde, his staff and the global Michigan community in order to support over 900 student-athletes."
Most recently, Fraumann served as the Executive Director for Development and Alumni Engagement at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. There she was responsible for oversight and strategic direction for all annual giving, major giving, corporate and professional foundation fundraising efforts, and alumni engagement programs.
In her previous role within athletics, Fraumann was responsible for setting strategic direction for the major and planned giving fundraising efforts. Prior to her role in the athletic department, Fraumann worked throughout the university in development roles, first with increasing responsibility at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business (2005-09) and, later, in the Office of University Development (2009-11).
"Katie is an experienced and respected fundraising leader at Michigan," said Jerry May, Vice President for Development. "She loves the university, has relationships with many donors and volunteers, and will hit the ground running back at Athletics."
Fraumann got her start in professional higher education development at the University of Illinois in 2004.
As a student-athlete at Michigan, Fraumann captained the basketball team as a senior in 2000-01, capping the season with the program's third trip to the NCAA Tournament in her four-year career. She earned the program's M-Zone Award for Character, Leadership and Academics in 2001, the Wolverine Award for Character, Work Ethic, Leadership and Academics in 2000 and 2001, and the Mary Carmel and Tom Borders Women's Basketball Award for Character, Leadership and Scholarship in 1999.
Katie and her husband, Bob, a former U-M football student-athlete, reside in Ann Arbor with their three children.
