ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 23-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team suffered its first Big Ten loss of the season, falling 4-0 to No. 4 Ohio State on Sunday (March 27) at the OSU Varsity Tennis Courts.
Ohio State jumped out to the early lead by virtue of the doubles point, winning at No. 3 and No. 1.
The Buckeyes did not let up in singles action, winning all six first sets. No. 2-ranked Mikael Torpegaard knocked off junior/sophomore Alex Knight, ranked No. 107, at the No. 1 spot (6-3, 6-1) for OSU's second point.
Ohio State followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 and a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 to clinch the dual match. The remaining three matches on court were abandoned once the team match had been decided.
Michigan returns home to the VTC on Friday (April 1), hosting Indiana at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
