
Michigan Stays Perfect at Home with Win over Toledo

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 24-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team ran its home record to 9-0 with a 5-2 win over Toledo to cap a perfect day on Saturday (March 12) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Michigan took control of doubles play early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead on court No. 2 and 4-1 leads on courts No. 1 and No. 3.
The No. 3 pair of junior Tyler Gardiner and junior/sophomore Davis Crocker were first off court, winning 6-2 when Toledo double faulted on match point.
Sophomore Runhao Hua and junior/sophomore Alex Knight clinched the doubles point for Michigan, breezing to a 6-3 win at the top spot.
Toledo tied the match at 1-1 when Michigan retired at No. 2.
Freshman Myles Schalet won his second singles match of the day, breezing to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 to put Michigan back on top, 2-1.
Moments later, Crocker followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3. Crocker rebounded from falling in an early 2-0 hole in the second set to win six of the set's final seven games for the win.
Freshman Gabe Tishman put the clinching point on the board for the Maize and Blue, winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
Toledo won at No. 1, but Michigan was victorious in the final match on court as freshman Maks Tekavec pulled out a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5. Tekavec broke late in the second set, winning the final two games for the 6-3 victory.
Michigan is back in action on March 25, hosting Penn State at 6 p.m. Admission is free at the Varsity Tennis Center.
