CHANDLER, Ariz. -- University of Michigan field hockey junior Katie Trombetta was named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-America third team, the NFHCA announced today (Wednesday, Dec. 7). It is Trombetta's first career All-America honor.
Michigan has had an All-American on its roster in 19 of the last 20 years, with 23 Wolverines combining for a total of 36 citations. Trombetta is the fourth different Wolverine to net her first All-America citation over the last three seasons.
A native of Holbrook, New York, Trombetta was the Wolverines' field general in 2016, splitting time between center back and center mid and serving as a key member of U-M's offensive and defensive corner units. She posted three goals and three assists on the season and anchored a defensive unit that posted a 1.36 goals-against average and just 9.1 shots allowed per game. She was named to the 2016 All-Big Ten first team and All-Tournament Team and earned NFHCA All-West Region first team honors.
Trombetta, the Wolverines' second legacy player in program history with her mother, Patti [Farley] (1986-89), owns 11 career goals, including five game-winners, five assists and 27 points. She is a two-time All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Tournament Team selection and has twice been named to the NFHCA All-West Region teams.
She has contributed to Michigan's 46-20 record, including a stellar 19-6 mark in Big Ten play, over the last three seasons and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
